Default L98 Distributor Cap

I was looking at Taylor distributor caps on Summit.com in prep for a major tune on my stock '85 L98. I was gonna order it but noticed it was a screw type cap. Its dark and the car is covered so I was hoping somebody would help this lazy boy out and confirm the screw type cap is correct for my car. I could wait til tomorrow and look myself but.....well....

Now this is odd. Please tell me this cap
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TAY-948131/?rtype=10

Is the same as the cap in this kit:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TAY-918131/

Anybody see why this is odd?

They may have the photos & description switched you would think the cap & rotor would be the higher priced one
Call them and check

Different numbers.

Not sure why the kit would be cheaper.. But hey.. cheaper is better!

You can use a cap with the "swing" bolts, cut the "L" off each & remove the remaining hardware.

The kit number is the same on eBay. Summit sells most things there altho the cap isnt listed singly. I surely am not gonna point out a mistake in the favor of the Vette brothers. I just thought it strange the cap separate was more expensive than the kit alone. Especially $7 difference. All I hafta say is .

We will see in about 10 days on the kit. Kinda thought that was pretty long considering Summits usual speedy service. I also ordered a Summit wire separator kit that has the OEM style routing. All I hafta do now is grab some plugs and I am ready to do the tune.

I ordered a new distributor from Summit for my 91 L98 and they sent me one with a vacuum cannister on it. I specifically searched for one to fit my specific car and engine. They do make mistakes. My money was refunded within 1 week although I had to pay to ship it back.
I bought a rebuilt distributor from my local NAPA guys. My counter guy owns an LT1 Impala SS and knows his Chevys. I have never been burned by them. Their computer system works great and if they can't find what they are looking for they will research their vast array of catalogs. The only thing they could not find for me recently was a new fuel pressure regulator diaphragm.

The 948131 cap is described as "Clamp down" and the 918131 is described as "Screw down". The 918131 is the correct L98 Corvette cap.

I had originally ordered an MSD cap and rotor (MSD-8416) for my 87 as Summit showed it as the correct setup when you went thru their pat selection procedure. Even the MSD website showed it was the right cap. Turns out that Summit has the wrong cap listed; even the Accel cap is the wrong one.

I called Summit and they swapped the caps for me and even gave me a credit for the lower priced Taylor cap.
