Help Replacing a Door Ajar Switch
Hey guys, I order a new door ajar switch, and took the old one off today, in the process, the metal thing that holds the screws fell into the door. Now I can now connect the screws (wont hold). What are my options?
Thanks
Jason
Thanks

There's 4 or 5 screws along the bottom carpeted strip. There's one or two screws on the rear face of the door, near the hatch switch. There's a couple of screws in the front-most carpeted area that borders the dash. There's a screw behind the door lock slider, you have to use a screwdriver to carefully pop off the slider from its lock rod, then you will see the screw. There's screws behind the light above the door handle, use a thin screwdriver to pry away the light cover from the top side. There's a screw behind the window switch on the passenger side, which is pried out to reveal the switch. On the driver's side the window/mirror control panel unscrews.
Just take your time, don't pull too hard on anything without being sure there's no more screws. Once you have every screw out, the panel lifts slightly up and off.

It may be different on my 93 but about a year ago I replaced the switch on both doors and Ive never had the panels off. I can't remember if the instructions were in with the new switch or the FSM. If I remember you take one screw out and replace it with a longer screw to hold on to then remove the other one and work the switch out. With the longer screw in it keeps the backer plate from falling. Put the new switch in and line up the backer plate and reinstall the screws. Hope that was the procedure and I'm not having a brain fart.

Remove the top screw, pivot the door ajar switch to the side then partly thread a longer 2 inch screw back into the backing plate, then remove the bottom screw and disconnect and remove the switch. Installation is the reverse.
No need for the door panel to be removed.

jericko good to hear you got that job taken care of. You got those switches taken care of and I got the location of all the screws on the door panel. The top of my door panel is lose so this will give me the chance to take it off and look it over.
