1987 vs. 1995
hey i currently own a 1987 corvette with some kind of different exhaust, it has mufflers and isnt super loud. my dad brought home a 1995 corvette he got a great deal on but when i drove the 95 it seemed very slow compared to the 87. the 1995 i believe has 300 horsepower, compared to the 87s 240, (correct me if im wrong on any of this) and is newer and has alot less miles and everything but the radio is stock but still shouldnt it blow the 87 away? so basically which one is faster 1987 or 1995?

your L98 has more torque then the LT1 and that is what you feel. but lined up side by side the 95 is faster

People said the same thing driving the C2 big blocks when compared with the solid lifter 365HP 327. Much of the "feel" difference was how the "power" came on. The big block torque curves were so smooth, it just didn't "feel" like they were as fast as the small blocks - but they were faster.

There in lies the problem,a few mods to the radio and the '95 will smoke the '87.

You do not say if the '95 is a stick or an auto. If it is an auto, take it out of overdrive and run it through the gears. You will notice a huge difference. Just running it in the first "D" makes a difference.

I can't see an 85 with 240 HP beating my 250 HP and 3.07 gears.
I could be wrong but I need to see the numbers and the source of the numbers.

Check for yourself
Car&Driver Road&Track,Stock 1/4 miles times on web crawler,Auotlounge.net stock automobile 0-60 times,If you are into corvettes like i am you would know 1/4 mile times and other things about the vette,I look those things up all the time,I knew that back then,I have been looking at stocks times for over 30 years each year a vette came out with the new model,I do it every year on all sport cars,And now since the web on the computers came out. It is alot easier to do then it was back then.the 85 vette ran its fastest time at 14.1 and that time was not beat until the new engine came out.
