Default Coil over conversion kits who has done this?

DRM has a Coil over conversion kits who has done this to his C4?

I want to know if i use the stock shocks will the ride be the same or stiffer?

I dont want to have a stiff ride, i want to be able to use it as a daily driver, what other coil overs conversion kits are out there that you would recomend?

Thanx

I know that several have done it to their Zs. Take a hike over to ZR1 Net Registry and post your questions. Lots of help and answers re coil overs there too.

If you use your stock shocks, I suspect your choice of spring rates will dictate whether or not the ride is stiff.

Presumably you like the ride your car has currently?

For other kits, search around for QA1's. They have some advantages including being cheaper, and the shocks I believe have a narrower body. So you can use narrower springs and you don't have to relocate the shock mounts or sway bar. Of course it's a different shock, so I've no idea if it will be stiffer or softer than the Bilsteins given a similar spring rate.

I have. It will make the ride stiffer depending upon the spring rate you choose (Remember your replacing the front and rear fiber springs) with coils. Mine is a daily driver and I am very happy with the setup and I am not going back. I retained the FX-3 system. GC

What spring rate did you use?

Do a search, there is plenty of info on this in this forum.

I did a QA1 coilover in my 96.

Pete, did you do the kit or the complete set up; what spring rate? adjustable shocks? (I know, I could read your thread, but I'm here and it's not )

I bought the already for installation kit. I will never trust a shock conversion. The spring rate its in the invoice and I got no clue where it is and yes they are adjustable.

I do know they made the Vette better and yes, the ride is harsh and I love it. Its so harsh that the headliner I bought came off.

The roads are now cold and with summer tires I had to take it easy last time I went for a twisty run.

For the OT, the coilover installation is a joke, the modifications you will have to do are the ones that will slow you down. Read my thread...search is your friend.

Upper and Lower Ball joints (moog)
Rear dog bones replaced with Heim joint links.
