Exhaust System
How do I go about choosing an exhaust system for my car? Which ones sound best? I don't want to make the mistake of buying one that does not make my car sound great and then have to buy an entirely different set. Do most of the muffler places have ways to tell what the new pipes and mufflers will sound like on the car or do you have to bite the bullet and be stuck with your mistake?

I went to you tube and listened to mufflers for hours before I decided. Corvette central also has videos of different mufflers.
You could also get with a Corvette club and go listen to different systems as well as a car/vette show.

Exhaust system sound is so subjective, it's next to impossible to give advice on.
What sounds "sweet" to one person, is obnoxiously loud to someone else.
Even listening to sound clips can be very deceiving, because you just can't capture the real sound.
The absolute best way, is to go to some of the Corvette events and listen to some of the cars.
Until you hear it in person for yourself, there is no way of knowing if your going to like it or not.
You also need to take a ride in the car if at all possible. Some of the systems have some really bad drone to them inside the cabin.
There have been many threads in the past where a member was selling an exhaust system because it turned out they just didn't like the sound once they got it.
Even though many members swore by that system.
Your going to get multiple opinions on what the best sounding system is.
But those giving the opinion are not listening with your ears.

Nothing can replace listening to them in person!

Wife says it's too dang loud on the inside.
Stock exhaust manifolds, stock resonator, with muffler eliminators.
At the right rpm and under load, it does have that famous C4 drone.
Just downshift to a lower gear to bring the rpm's up and it's not bad.

I have a set of Magna Flows on mine I wish there were Louder at Idel Only I like them at cruise speeds but nice rumble when you foot in it.
I now saving up some more cash to get them hooked up to my new full tube headers and see if this the exhaust to where I like it.
I also going from 3 cat system to a single cat should also give sop,me more rumble.
Magna flow with rear cross over tubes you can talk to the person sitting next to at normal levels hear the radio with out have to crank it up to hear it.
And nice rumble to it.
I dont know if makes a diffrent but I have the Lt-1 tips on mine.

IMO, pony up the dough for a high-end system. I have a Borla and couldn't be happier. Apparently, the fit and finish of their work isn't quite as good as it used to be, but I am still very satisfied with mine.
The other options are Corsa and Billy Boat. It all comes down to which sound you like best.
B&B is nice and loud, Corsa is more of a growl without any drone, and Borla give a nice, deep rumble.

Whatever you decide I highly recommend the rear Y with a crossover tube. It helps to balance out the resonance and reduces and even eliminates any drone you may have with certain mufflers.
Couple thoughts
Expensive doesn't mean the best, everyone likes different sounds and has different wants/needs, so do your homework and take your time so you don't make a 1000 dollar mistake. There have been many people take the advice of others and it turned out it wasn't what they were looking for.
