will a 84-89 steering wheel bolt to a 1990 column?
I don't want the airbag in my 1990 for one I doubt it works and I just hate the look for another. Or would I be better off using a complete earlier column?
I know by removing the airbag the light will be on but will it affect the car any other way by not having it? I notice when you pull the airbag fuse the car dies or wont start. Can a resistor be put in the harness to trick the car into thinking the airbag is still there to eliminate any side affects?

i have the exact opposite question. i have a 89 car and would like the newer model steering wheel. im wondering if the spline counts are the same, and the spacing on the back of the wheel to the column/telescoping portion/plastic. i understand the airbag would not work in my car, thats fine, i just prefer the look of the newer c4 steering wheels.

only problem i see with unbolting columns at the rag joint is my 89 has the wiper switch on the door, his 90 should have a multifunction lever. my car has vats bypassed anyways, so that would not be a issue to me, but possibly the OP. looking forward to how this plays out. seeing as a nice wheel is 150 +/- and a airbag is another 100 +/- we'll see.

One thing to consider when contemplating a swap between the 84-89 and 90-96 steering columns is that the windshield wiper controls for 84-89 are on the driver's door panel and on the steering column for 90-96 Vettes. This complicates the swap. Oops! mattwakler87's post must have just beat me to this issue. Sorry about the duplication.

FYI, on the column swap, the 84-89 column mounts in the car different then the 90-96
As for the Wheel I, used a 89 column with 91 electronics and trim panels I still had the Telescopic wheel, but my mod was bit different
