I recently bought a 1987 coupe that is bright red on the outside, with a gray or graphite interior. Not sure how to tell the difference between gray and graphite, and I will need to order some replacement parts.

Where can I verify the interior color of the car? Can this be discerned from the VIN, or is there another tag on the car somewhere? I know the car was repainted at least once, so I hope the answer isnt on a sticker that might have been removed.

Ok, so I've looked on the door jambs, under the center console door, in the rear storage compartments, and I can't find a sticker with the RPO codes on it.

This is a 1987 coupe - there is no glovebox, right?

All I have is the VIN. I tried the compnine website, and it had no listing for my car when I entered the VIN.

Can anyone get my the RPO codes for a 1987 Corvette coupe using the VIN #?

You won't be able to tell from your VIN alone. Maybe you can somehow request another RPO sticker for that car somehow, I've heard of people doing this before.

Your interior color is Graphite. The codes are as follows depending upon whether you have a cloth or leather interior:

12C = Graphite Cloth

122 = Graphite Leather

Why dont you post a few pics so we can have a look.

Gray for an 87 is like a Medium gray and Graphite is alot darker with a tint of black. I have an 86 12c interior--seats--door panels--console lid--graphite--door panel carpet and interior carpet sure look like some kind of medium gray to me.

I sure hope so...i just ordered a couple of medium gray carpet strips for my door panels....we'll see i guess

1987 Bright Red Corvettes only came with Graphite, Red or Saddle interiors. If your 1987 Red Corvette has a grayish interior - its graphite. Check it out:

It was possible to order cars in "non standard" exterior/interior color combinations.

You could have ordered a red car with a blue interior if you had wanted to.

Compnine is squirrely at best and rarely has info on early C4's. As stated the only sure method is to obtain a copy of the original build sheet from the NCM, then look up your code.
