I do have an inertia switch that will "kill" the High voltage, in the event of a collision it will disengage the contactors from the traction pack. limiting the danger of high voltage. Also the battery cells are tightly packed in 3/16" aluminum boxes as well.
I do have plans to put the orange covers over the high voltage cables. These were not available at the time I started the conversion. There is now 2/0 and 4/0 cables that have the actual orange insulation.
Also my high voltage shut off is clearly visible from the outside.
I hope this helps.

This vette is using a smaller pack than I am , from what I could tell he has 30 miles range. So he off the git go is 300 pounds lighter from that stand point.
I must say it is a nice car.

Although you might not experience a great difference in temperature between summer and winter there in CA, I was wondering if the batteries work better in winter or summer? Or, is there not much of a difference?

The batteries perform better in the summer as long as they do not get "too" hot.
In areas where the weather gets really cold people install like heating pads or coils to keep the temperatures around 85 degrees F. Also where the temps get over say 100 degrees like in AZ many time we would circulate air over the cells to convect some of the heat off of them.
For charging they should be from 32-113 degrees F for discharge or working temps they need to be from -4 to 131 degrees, again the optimal temp os probably around 85 degrees for the best performance, as I mentioned before too cool and you will not get the same say range as you would at say 65 degrees.
I hope this helps.

Funny you should ask LOL
I was going to wait before letting the cat out of the bag...
I'm about 2 two weeks from receiving 12 Tesla S battery modules.
I will have a total of 13 , I may go to 14, I will be shedding about 60 -pounds on the car, and will essentially double my range to about 155 miles ( estimated) The current pack is 100 Ah weighs 752 pounds, the Tesla's are 250 Ah so essentially 2.5 times the capacity and about 700 pounds so the car should weigh in about 3500 pounds.
I went back to the 9" motors, and changed the rear end to 3.73's
Here are a few more pictures
Tesla 24V 250AH battery
Zilla Hairball now in a weatherproof Box, with tach interface, and J1772 charger adapter
Contactor buss that switches the 360VDC
View from driver side
View from passenger side
I will keep everyone updated once the modules come in....

How do you charge those battery arrays? is there internal circuitry to monitor individual or bank voltages, or do you hook up an external charge controller and just teat it like a singular unit? I saw EV West was harvesting smartcar packs in the same manner as thos large Tesla shelf packs. I was thinking more in the way of an off-grid battery storage rather than for propulsion.
