I probably will not spend much money trying to figure it out unless it gets worse. I have no vibrations or noise at all, just the click, but I hate having something wrong with the car after I have spent so much money on the new engine.
Good news. I had a shop here in the Phoenix area install new teflon rear axle washers on both sides of my car today, the clicking noise is gone. When they started the work they discovered that the washers were missing on both sides. Apparently whoever replaced the U-Joints on both sides of the car last never installed the teflon washers at all. The washers are only about $10 each and the labor was only about $100. There is a great thread talking about this problem in the tech section. Do a search for "teflon rear axle washers" and look for the thread entitled "its the washers". Hope this solves your problem as well.

That is good news, guess it time to get my own appt. at Loud Pedal. Perhaps they can track down my vibration as well. Thanks for the update.

its probably not any one big thing; on our aging cars, a lot of little things add up
A buddy refers to that as "An accumulation of tolerances" - a few hundredths here, a few thousandths there and pretty soon you've got a lot of play.

OP, glad yours turned out to be something easily located and cheaply fixed!

One mechanic thinks I need to replace the bushings in the rear. Did you have those symtoms on your car?
Wow, I cant believe none of you on here know what that is.

Thats about a $5 repair. $5 for the anti-seize.

Its surface 'rust' on the splined stub shaft on your left rear half shaft.

Remove wheel and hub, wire brush the splined stub shaft, and then coat both surfaces (hub and stub shaft) with anti-seize. Probably a good idea to do the other (right side) as well.

If you mentioned this 8 years ago on this site, you would get about 10 responses telling you the same.

This was the issue with mine, did this and no problem.

Could you imagine how bad you'd get raped if you took it to the dealer with that complaint?
