C4 or C5 Coupe or Convertable?
I知 getting ready to purchase my first Corvette. I really like the looks of the C4 and I知 leaning towards a 1996 LT4 coupe. I知 getting all kinds of opinions from a bunch of people and I壇 like to know what current Corvette owners think. Cost wise I知 in the neighborhood of buying a nice LT4 or an early C5. I do like the body style of the C4 but I like the interior of the C5. I知 also leaning towards the coupe in lieu of the convertible.
So what are your opinions? C4 or C5? Coupe or convertible?
Thanks,
Charlie

The C5 is a superior car, and personally I'd take one over an LT C4, espeically with C5 prices plummeting. That being said, you're making the purchase and I'd drive each model and decide for yourself.
Coupe all the way though. Verts just don't look right.

Drive a coup & a vert and with top off/down at highway speeds to see which you prefer from a wind noise perspective.
Other than that go with your gut and get what you really "need".
That said I still prefer the C4 with clam-shell hood and fit-my-butt seats...

As stated before it is your personal decision. Drive the both of them and you have to make up your own mind. I have always wanted a corvette vert. since I was a kid so I finally bought one and im loving it but that is my taste.I would buy the latest one but that is my preference.
Good luck

I prefer the coupe. you get alot more storage and when the mood hits, just remove the targa and thats all the vert ya need. But like others have said, drive each and decide then. It all comes down to personal choice.

Yeah...you really need to make the decision yourself. Personally when buying a car I always prefer the latest model possible just from an age factor...parts age even when sitting in a garage (so don't always fall for the low mileage vehicle). My biggest complaint with the C4 is weather stripping sucks...Yugo's have better weather stripping!
Personally I'm not a fan of the C5 look, big ****, cushy interior (doesn't feel like a jet fighter) and it can fit 2 sets of golf clubs in the back (didn't realize that was important for a sports car and I still don't!)...hence the reason why I've held on to my C4...now a C6 on the other hand .
In terms of performance a 96 LT4 is on par with a 97/98 C5, after that GM upped the ponies in the LS1.

thats a toughy... I dont know though... I think Id have to go with the c5 if you can get a decent one. Id get the newest one. LT4 are nice to though espceially with the unknown actually horse power and all. Kinda cool. Id take the looks of the c5 over the c4. Power is relatively probably the same. Its all up to you. Go drive both of them.
And i say no for the convertible. and you better get a 6 speed

Or you could buy a real car
But I would buy the LT4 over the C5 coupe, But that's just me. You have to pay for it and drive it. I don't really care for the C5 coupe. Unless it's a Fixed Roof Coupe or a Z06 of course (same thing)
C5 prices are plummeting but so are C4 prices. The C5 will outprice the C4 for a long time except in special instances.
You like the C5 interior over the C4? Really! Well ok then!

The interior is one of the things to kept me to a C4. I used to have a GMC Sierra and the interio of the C5 felt about the same due to the AC and Radio controls. It had that big bubble type plastic feel.
The exterior was a toss up. Maybe if I had other GM cars from the 90's the Corvette might have felt similar to them.
It depend on the use of the car. If the C5 is more cushier on the road then that may matter if you spend hours a day in the car. My C4 is a weekend car. I like the difference in feel between my smooth riding truck and the more aggressive sports car.
