My 1989 Custom Corvette in pictures (Yep, I'm finally done!)
I could tell you the whole entire story of the last 12 years. How I bought this 89 6-spd in 1999 with only 14k miles, drove it, dinged it, and went through all the decisions to get it where it is now. Over the years, I’ve posted most of the saga, so there’s probably no reason to do it again. Instead, here’s a summary of before and after. Thru pictures, you can see its journey. (Right now, I can’t find a picture of the hood damage or trip to the bodyshop but who cares. All that’s necessary is to see before and after. Enjoy!....
Purchased in 1999 with only 14k miles, here’s what my car looked like when I bought it…
(Note: Original engine pic is shown later in thread.)

After the seats were damaged by a malfunctioning sprinkler system at work….
With a damaged front hood and the need for an interior, I decided to do some serious remodeling. After all, it wasn’t a collector’s model, so why not? First, I installed a custom stereo system with DVC 8” woofers and 4-channel amp.
I decided to get tricky with the amplifier…
And, install sound insulation and new, black carpet…
Amplifier installed, with new carpet, and home-made speaker grills…

Back of the seats and all trim was dyed (or re-dyed) black…
My newfound skill with vinyl/plastic dye included the door panels. I hope you like my new two-tone scheme….
Two-toned black and red leather seats updated the looks nicely…
New dash kit (bought in 2001) was also installed…

Yep, that’s a C5 waterfall emblem on my dash! I also have a C5 shifter ball on my ZFDoc short-throw shifter. (I like the updated crossed flag look better than the C4 circle badging.) To make sure the interior looked perfect, I disassembled the switch panels and faces. I sprayed them with satin urethane to bring them back to life.

Here’s a sneak preview of paint and it’s high reflection…(This is where the insurance money went.)

As part of the paint project, I disassembled everything, installed new weatherstrips, and sent it for dealership quality paint. With a high rise hood, sidepipes, and updated bumpers, here’s the result. I was shooting for a collage of C3 and C4 era styling. More importantly, I wanted to create something unique….

Now it’s time for my favorites…..
(The first one is before I finished the interior and added the emblems….)
The rest were taken this week….

To finish it off, here’s pics of the 383 stroker that I built to support the theme….a
OEM….
AFTER….
P.S….I did this because I missed the two local Corvette shows this year. I wasn’t done in time. Then, last weekend I was planning to attend my first show. But, my bro-in-law was run over by a farm tractor and nearly died. (Broken pelvis, ribs, leg, and collapsed lung) Needless to say, I went to support his recovery.
For me, this is my 2011 Corvette show. It’s fitting too, because it’s directed to the people who love C4’s the most!
Thanks for looking!!!!

A labor of love with fantastic results. Great job Gregg!!!! Now get out and drive the dam thing, yer a few years behind on your mileage!
First place to go would be an appraiser. Get an official high dollar value placed on it. Put that with your detailed receipts on money spent. Get some hard copy pics made of what you have shown us here and put them in too. All this in case some low life SOB pulls out in front of you and his low ball insurance wants to give you $3k when they total it.
