Default pricing help please..

1996 LT1 automatic coupe with 11,000 miles. What should one be paying for this Vette.Pretty clean car.I wouldn't be looking at it because I really am leaning toword an LT4 if I get back into a c4,but with 11,000 miles it's got my attention.Thanks.

Even the low mile late C4's have to bump up against the early C5's and everybody knows it. I'd say $15-$20K tops, because after that, you're looking at low or moderate mile ZR-1's.

You really cant ask that question here and get an honest answer, you will hear anything from $4000 to buy the best car for the money.Im in the minority here in the sense I want the cleanest car possible and would pay the price, within reason.I would say the car in question might be worth about $15,000 to the right buyer.Would most here pay that for a C4,not even close.Would I pay that much for the car,if it were clean yes I would.

$20,000 is dipping into C6 money. But people need to keep in mind what condition a $20,000 C6 is going to look like compared to a $20,000 C4?

A low mileage C4 , unless, it is really special, like a ZR1, or LT5, isnt worth what a moderate mileage C5 is. And the C5 seem to be a lot less issue prone. At least they are in my club.

Then again, every year had it share of recalls and all ..

But if the interior is in good shape, and low mileage, it just may be worth 13 to 14K ..

But if I was me, I would buy an early Z06 in decent shape.

To be brutally honest, I have no business telling another what to do with ones money.

Haven't seen a whole lot of 20K C6's, but if I did, I imagine they'd have some serious miles on them. The lows for 2005 C6's I've seen is about $25K with 80-110K miles (I'm wrong, one example has 56K for $23K, which isn't bad). None of them look beat up, that's for sure. It would come down to what flavor Corvette do you want, very low mile C4 or moderate mile C6?

Here is one at 21K with about the miles I thought they'd have, still, not bad looking for the price. Not 180K miles either.

It has been said many times to buy the best condition car you can.
A little extra up front cost can save some $$ in the long run.
I paid more for my LT4 than most here would have. But along with that I got a car that I haven't had to "fix" anything on, other than normal maintenance.

That is a good point to make too.
I would much rather have the "excellent" condition C4 than a C6 in need of TLC.
And I believe a $20K C6 would not be in the best of condition. Or at the least would be very high miles.

My thoughts excatly as far as paying for a nice one!

I've owned 3 c4's,89-90-95 LT1's and 1 c5-2001 ls1 and 2 c6's.Next to the c6's I loved my 3 c4's the best and really never got quite comfortable in the
C5. For whatever reason I would choose a C4 over a c5 all day every day,but that's just me. This car I glanced at today at a local dealer is on the lot for 18,995.Seems a bit much to me for AN LT1 PLAIN JANE.That's why I ask you current C4 owners. So I can learn!!

Undoubtedly there are numerous C5's to be had in the 20,000 dollar and up range.Mid 20's will get me into a c6 again. If I start going there,I may as well just get another 08!

I wouldn't buy it because its an automatic, but I would be willing to pay $12k-$14k for a really clean LT1 or a pretty clean LT4 with a few more miles.

It might be a plus if it has sport seats or a Z07 suspension package. I would definitely pay less for a base trim.

There are still some buyers out there who will pay more than 10 grand for a C4- It's a buyer's market, but only for the run-of-the-mill high mileage cars. I would stay away from the automatic cars. i saw one last weekend with 20k on it with a perfect interior being parted out because the purchase price was only about $6000. this is an exception, but like I said, I will only buy a 6 spd car, myself.

A car is worth what ever they buyer wants to pay. I could of bought a 1999 c5 for 12000 but I was drawn to the 1994 for 8000. I just loved the color and it was in great shape. The only things I need to fix is the drivers window doesn't work all the time and the seals need replaced on the targa top.

Check the tires. They may need replacing due to age with that many miles.

If it has the exact options you want and you can get it for under 15k then that's not a bad deal if everything is as clean as it sounds. Although if you plan to drive the snot out of it, then paying more for the low miles doesn't make a lot of sense.

If you want an LT4, it's very likely that you can find one in great shape for what the seller will want for an LT1 with 11k.

Yea,I think I should hold out for an LT4 because coming out of an LS3 I don't think an auto lt1 will quench my power need!!lol. I'd even consider a ZR1 but they are almost as much if not as much as a used c6!

Biggest issue is what is it worth to you to have that car, unless you are worried about selling it (in which care you probably shouldn't buy it unless you do it for a living and/or get it very cheap). The 96 is the best of the C4's and probably the one to get if you want a C4. Great cars! Fun, and probably more reliable than even an early C5. A LT1 with the 3:07 (performance axle) will surprise you for street performance.

. When your in the 10,000 mile area expect to pay a premium. I would think $20,000 would be a safe bet. The options might not be exactly what you want, but the car is almost like new (from your description) and when you compare it to a high mileage fix-it-upper, you'll be way ahead.

I seening some nice C-5s going under 50,000 miles 14-16 ..But a nice C-4 is a nice C-4 .I woulden't give over $14 ..I can get 40-to 60 miles Lt-4s for 12-14 not hard to fine cash talks.. I got LT-4 in Dallas in not too bad shape $7,500 in 2010 drove it home 1000 miles away just put gas and go..Worked on it sence and is a great ride no opps. I guess why got it cheaper..Lot's LT-4 all Opps. out there with 40-60 miles for around 14 cash maybe cheaper..I thinking about selling my 96 and getting a C-5 myself...Not over 14 don't care if 11,000 or not it's stell a C-4 and noybody is giveing money for them ..ONE DAY you might want to sell it and the more in it the more to get out of it... I have $17-$20 in my 96 now I don't think I could get $12,000 for it...It's fun ride..no big deal...
