Default What do you use for tire dressing?

I like nice black tires but Michelin does not recommend any tire dressing except their own. Apparently any of these products that are hydrocarbon based can break down your tires prematurely. That's all well and good except you CAN'T GET THE MICHELIN STUFF. I e-mailed them and sure enough they have discontinued the product and have no recommendation.

As such I just used what I've been using for years, Meguairs Gold Class Endurance High Gloss. Of course they claim it's safe for all tires and I've never had a problem. It doesn't seem to turn my tires brown or dry out and crack the sidewalls. Has a decent grape like smell too.

Just curious what you use and what you like / don't like about it.

Armor-all for tires only. Keeps a satin more natural finish rather than the wet glossy look.

For the rest of the rubber parts I use Adams products.

I use the Adam's VRT on my Michelin Pilot Sports. Holds us very well, won't leave that dreaded black smear if you brush up against it (unless you really slopped it on).
BTW, always wanted to say thanks for your great web site, used it a lot.

Meguiar's Hot Shine. I like the black wet look when at shows.

If you drive the car as intended, you'll need a new set of tires long before they dry rot.

I agree but life tends to get in the way sometimes.

I've tried a bunch and last Fall started using Mother's Back to Black Tire Shine...it's a relatively new product for them. It's by the far the best I've tried...give a try.

This the best stuff I have found. It lasts longer as well and is easy to apply. I use it for all my rubber/plastic trim pieces wheel wells etc. I've tried the back to black and all the other stuff and I was turned on to this by a detail guy. I'll never use anything else. I know one vette owner who uses it on his dash. I use the nasa stuff for that though.

I have used Armor-all for a long time and like they said above it keeps a good finish and I also like that it doesn't leave that black smear like so many of them do.

That black smear that a lot of tire dressings leave is really disgusting. You can't even wash it without getting that black stuff on your sponge/cloth/brush/etc. or what ever touches it. Hands or clothes too.
