Default Question on 1989 Wheel Cover Locks....

I have stock 17" wheels on my 1989 which have the center cover hiding the lug nuts. The cover is held on by one bolt which needs the "puzzle" key to remove them, similar to regular wheel locks.

I didn't receive this key from the previous owner, and I am wondering if each set of locks are unique? From looking at the puzzle pattern on the bolt, it looks to be an even "flower" pattern, so I'm hoping that all of these are the same.

Any ideas on where I can purchase a key for these covers? Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Had the same issue with my 89. U will not find a key. Get a drill bit that will pierce hardened steel and use an easy out. Comes right out. Get new locks or I got nickel colored allen bolts and used them. U can not see them. However My car is garaged and only driven occassionaly. Those centers are very expensive.

When I first got my 89, the key was stripped. Call the folks that make these. McGard, tell them you don't have the key and they can help you. They are located in Orchard Park, NY

Thanks for the info guys! I will check with McGard. If worse comes to worse......I will be drilling them out and using the Allen bolts. Nickel colored ones will look good. Thanks for the tip!

You can use a flat blade screwdriver or thin needle nose pliers in the flower to get them started. Then just unscrew the rest of the way with your fingers

Thanks! Great idea! I'll give it a shot. I just hope the previous person didn't muscle them on super tight. Thanks again!
