Stupidest thing somebody has said about your C4?
#42
I just guess a lot of people dont realize how awesome the C4 was in its time and still is. Sheesh.
It was engineered from ground up Almost everything about it was new at the time.
It still looks awesome and is awesome around the town.
Also RedLS1GTO .. Most people I have seen with an oil sump, do some sort of thing like Auto Crossing or some sort of off road racing in their Vettes.
I dont recall seeing many NOX systems tanks in the engine compartment either. I have seen some in the spare tire area of a Vette though.

Last year a woman at a cruise-in asked me to give her the car so that they could auction it off and use the money for dog rescues. I told her I only had one Corvette and she didn't care, she wanted mine.
These cars attract crazy people all the time with crazy questions or comments.

Imagine how the C6 owners get bombarded....
I think there are more C5 and C6 is SoCal than F-150.

I usually get asked if I have to shift gears 7 times to get up to cruising speed in my 85 4+3. My answer is "yes", but it's the downshifting 7 gears just to stop that gets annoying. Hey, if they're that stupid........

When I wrecked my 88' and the insurance adjuster came to look at it he tried to convince me the targa top was aftermarket and no C4 came with a removable top.

One time i had my hood up and a guy#1 is looking at it while guy#2 comes up and says "Is that a V8?" Me: "Yeah its a V8" Guy#1 "Oh its a V8? I know some of them came with a V12." Me: "Yeahhhh." Guy#1 points to my plenum and says "This is the supercharger right here though." I just stood and smiled and turned around to laugh.

Sitting at a light in my 88 convertible, couple kids in a Cavalier pulled up next to me and asked "Is it a stick?" I said sure is....they got all excited and then they replied "Wanna Race?" where I simply replied "Wanna Lose?"

I had the hood open when the neighbor comes over and asks, "What year is your Corvette?" I say "1984", then he sees the big old crossfire air cleaner cover and asks, "Is that a ZR-1 engine?" I reply, "I wish"

Thread of the Year!!! Some of these are LOL, funny.
I cannot say I remember any specific time I got stupid comments but I'm sure I have. Mostly about how much it costs to buy, own, gas....they shut up when I lay out the facts.
Mostly at car shows, track, etc...I only get very positive comments, overall.
I did over hear at a car show once, a guy saying how LT1's are slow and junk. He drove a Chrysler SRT8 300. Clearly had no idea that my LT1 could at least keep up with his 425 compared to my 300, overweight (like him) car.

One guy wanted to buy my 95 at 6 am in the morning and then the sun came out he found out it was purple instead of black... lol...
That dude was excited, and then so disappointed because the price was low and everything.
that and all the compliments I got from 55 year old women...
then there was the "only a pimp would drive a purple corvette" comment.

I usually get dumb questions or comments given to me at gas stations.
I get the usual, "why do you drive a gas guzzler?"
"Is that a 6 or an 8?"
"Nice camaro"
"Why didn't you buy a newer one?"
and the most common. "Time for new tires" (This was when I had just installed brand new Nitto NT05's)
I also get, "did you remove your rear seats to save weight?"
"Must be nice to be able to throw 40 grand away on a sports car" I respond that I got it for $7,000. He responded with, "Liar, is it stolen?"
