How ro drain the gas tank?
As the title states, I need to drain the gas out of my newly acquired 87 vert. The gas inside is at least 2 years old. Id rather not do the old "suck on a hose trick" but I will if it comes down to it.
What would you guys suggest? Any better methods? Id rather not drop the gas tank.

Suck the hose. You can buy a hose with a hand pump so you won't have to swish your mouth with gas. You can get most of the gas out with the siphon. Some here might recommend a shop vac. I wouldn't try it if you value your life or home.

How about this: (Sorry this just came to me)
Leave everything intact.
Disconnect the main fuel line from on top of the gas tank sending unit.
Attach a long hose where the fuel line was and run it into a gas can.
Put 12 volts to the fuel pump and just have the pump pull all the gas out of the tank through the line into the can.
Am I missing anything here?
Seems like it should work

I used an outboard motor fuel line with primer bulb. No sucking gas!
Used the primer then it ran out. You don't want to "drop the tank"
That is a bear of a job!
Good luck

Disconnect the fuel line from the rail infront and the car sits in a manner that the gas will drain out, if you jack the back up it more go further down. One fitting no big deal, or at least enough to get new gas in and running.

When using the in tank fuel pump to drain the tank you can overheat the pump and burn it out, as the in tank pump needs the fuel to keep it cool.
