Carrol Shelby and the Cobra
When I saw the obit for Shelby it reminded me that the Cobra was and is for me the most desirable car I've ever seen, although the Lotus Elise almost pushed it back to second place and the wail of a Ferrari makes me weak in the knees.
I know this is a loyalist crowd but -- c'mon, now -- what is your ultimate automotive ownership fantasy? Only one choice. You ain't Jay Leno.

As long as my car wish list is, and this is no BS, my top dream cars were always a C4, a C3 and an old school 5.0 Mustang. I have the C4 and the 5.0. Dreams do come true.

I'm old enough to remember the Cobra/Corvette rivalry. 427 vs 427.
Wheel to wheel. Race by Race. Shelby was as much to credit as Zora for evolutionary improvements in our Corvette ancestors. He'd make an improvement, Zora would respond in kind. It was a healthy rivalry.
The automotive world has lost a legend. I for one, thank him for his contributions to our passion.

I don't think I'd want an original cobra. I'd much rather have a factory five replica that I'm not afraid to drive. It's definitely in my top 5 though.
Other dream cars of mine include the porsche 959, Countach and Koenigsegg CCX.

70-71 Cuda
70 Chevelle SS 396 or 454
(I had 73 with a 454 but always wanted the 70)
I always wanted a 3rd generation Z28 as well. Not super fast but I really like the looks of them. I was actually looking at one before I bought my first vette.

The original Cobras while being great race cars were really lacking in polish and finish. Cool, but not something you would really like to drive.
Later versions built by Shelby American were much nicer.
Back to your original ?, I have always loved the '58 Vette. Nostalgic enough to turn heads, comfortable enough to drive.
