Doesn't get better than this!
With the Commercial Real Estate market here in California, totally dead in the water, it didn't take long for my little brain to start thinking. Going through a third divorce (yeah, I know...) and needing space for the Corvette, the Harley, the mountain bikes, the huge vintage JBL and EV pro studio monitors.
So my partner and I leased an light commercial and industrial space. 1,500 sq feet for $750 a month. And it has a private bathroom and a separate office. We got the keys Thursday afternoon and I was there until 9 pm last night. We've got our workbenches and rollaway tool boxes lined up, the boats parked and now the 95' sits in a nicely insulated and cool shop instead of baking in a tiny storage locker that is only 10x20 and barely fit the Vette.
Yes, we have a cooler, working on a fridge, but we've got tunes aplenty, absolutely no neighbors and we were alone back in the back row (we deliberately picked it out like this), blaring tunes, hoisting brews and working on our stuff. No women bugging us (or calling us for that matter!), no interruptions, no nothing!
Next is to adjust the brake booster again! It was good for a week or so, but now I think the whole system is 'settled in' and we can readjust the brake booster as it's still going to the floor when it's cold!
Oh, and it's unit C-13!

At first it sounds like a crazy idea till you stop and think how much a good man cave garage costs.
Great idea if you can afford it.
Honestly would be a great idea for me when I look for a business location to get one like this.

My buddies and I have thought about doing this very thing for years now. Our only problem is, that kind of space with those amenities is much more costly here. Congrats!

I'm looking at El Paso CL and found this: And believe me, we're in a low-rent district too, but the Taco truck is right around the corner. And we did a 6 mo' lease to start. They're so desperate, that they lowered the security because of my credit and let us move in three weeks early!

I seem to remember a thread or news article a while back about someone doing this and having the city come after them for a business permit. Didn't matter that no business was conducted, the city wanted their cut.
