Accidentally poured a little engine oil in coolant reservoir
Its a 2002 convertible. This morning it showed low engine oil so I decided to top it off. But instead of the engine, I poured a little (2-3 Tablespoon) of oil in the coolant reservoir (not the radiator) before I realized what I was doing.
I am guessing I can just remove the reservoir, flush it and pour new dexcool and it will be fine? Do I need a full coolant flush (52000 miles on the car).
Can I drive it right now for sometime or should I avoid it?
Appreciate the help.
Thanks,
Titus

You should flush it, but if you did not start the engine, just remove the plastic fill reservoir and dump all the coolant out and clean it individually.
You also accidentally posted a C5 question in C4.

I realized that too. Just not a good day today. I reposted in C5.
Thanks for the reply. Hopefully it is an easy job. Thankfully I did buy some dexcool not too long ago.

You must be new to the car world. Knowing many C5 owners from SoCal I can tell they can not wait to see this thread in the C5 General.
Let's add some humor to this one. What type of oil and grade did you pour in it?

Okay, I'm really curious though as to how you managed to pour oil into the coolant reservoir? I'm not familiar with the layout of the LS1, is the oil and coolant caps next to each other?
In any case you don't need to flush the system, just pull the reservoir and clean out. Unless you were low on coolant, it cooling system wouldn't have pull in any of the oil into the radiator and such.
