The 84 mounting is different. I had a few pumps lock up or fail on my 84 and I could not find a bypass so I made my own since the 85+ did not look like it would fit. I did not like the idea of removing it and running a longer belt because I was afraid it would jump off in that long area where there was no pulley. Just FYI.

Actually when you remove the pump on an 84 you run a shorter belt, 85.5" I think is what I used. I never had any problems with the belt slipping or flying off. I deleted my AC later and added a Dorman 34157 delete pulley (88-92 F'Bird and Camaro) and had to use an 87.2" belt with that set up.

Sorry my bad, shorter belt. Many people have and I've heard it work fine. I was concerned because I Autocross and run some high speed events so I didnt want to gamble with the belt shaking at high RPMs and jumping so I made one instead.

One day I could be persuaded to buy one of these kits. Only thing that worries me, is the standard serpentine belt being too long? As i'm not in america, it's not like I can run down to the shops to compare belts and have no clue as to what belts are available or what suits what?

How often do you carry this item if it goes out of stock? Also, how long is the sale? I'm trying to get my 89' running as close to perfect before I start doing some mods.

Last time stock was gone, the item was on back order for 5 months.

I got way more than 20hp when I switched to this... or maybe it was the 383....

It absolutely cleans up the engine bay and was a great purchase.

How many are left? Are you going to restock if you sell them all?

Arrived today. Can't wait to put it on. Will it require a different size belt? I have a 89' L98 6spd w/ AC

Yeah, you usually need a smaller one. The old one will be too stretched out.

When you remove the air pump on an 84 the power steering bottle needs to be mounted somewhere. Mine is zip strapped to the air pump pulley. Wish I known about just removing the air pump and using a shorter belt.

On my 84 I did not have to mess with the power steering bottle. If you are leaving the ac compressor intact you just need to use an 85.5" belt when the air pump is reomoved. I did this before I eliminated the AC compressor and went with a dorman 34157 ac delete pulley and an 87.2" belt.
