Bat Man

1st of all, I own a COMPLETELY STOCK 92 6spd LT1 with 90k miles.

Recently I have really been getting on it, in the 2nd to 3rd shift, I break the tires loose, and fish tail abit. I asked a question about this a while ago and everone said they could only break traction in 2nd.

Well last night I got to race a C5. The license plate said 180 plus... :D:D

Anyways he was in the center lane, behind a car, i was in the right lane. I push it into 3rd around 65mph and give it a little go. Get up ahead so he can pass the car infront of him , and waited. Will he bite? Yes here he comes. he has the start on me, I put it in 3rd and we go, he isn't pulling at all. 3rd gear is running out, shift, CRAP I put it in 2nd again (but didn't let out clutch) a whole second or two I was trying to find 4th(My friend was screaming "NOOOOOOOOOO!"). Hes about a car length in front of me now. He's not pulling at all. I looked down last at 108. My friend said the last he saw was 120. About half a mile ahead we see cop lights, immediatly hit the brakes. And slow down.
Talked at the next light, and he said my cars running really well.
We then went on our way.

Basically he beat me by about a car length.
But I think I had 3 things working against me.
1)I had the "parachute" out, aka had the targa top off, the rear hatch is like a parachute.
2) He got the head start on me
3) I missed 4th.

If those 3 things would not have had happend, I easily think it would have gone another way.

So "freak" or not?

Your car sounds nice and strong.

Lots of things go into a race... car, driver, conditions, experience.... sounds like you had fun, beware of that next C5 though!

It's a freak, or you found yourself an A4/2.59 early (97-99) C5 to play with.

It was a Vert, with the 2000+ rims.
I didn't ask what kinda tranny they had, but I think it was an auto. I didn't hear him downshifting at the stop light. I think he did have aftermarket exhaust, because it sounded really good. Made me go crazy :crazy: :crazy:

PS: Im heading to the track friday. 15 bucks for unlimited runs, you just cant beat that :)

Doh. If it were a stock exhaust you could of told what year range it was. Plain tip = 97-99, polished/chromeish tips = 00+

It had polished tips, but I hear that c5's sound like crap, this one wasn't too loud, but sounded pretty good.

He had his wifey(GF) in the car. So my friend didn't play that big of a factor.

Check under your console lid for the code GH0. That would be factory 3.54 gears... rare but some had 'em... my '92 does.
