95 Corvette Elecronic A/C Buttons Clean-up + 12V outlet
I'm working on installing two extra 12V plugs. One by the passenger door to supply power
for the GPS and add a triple outlet to the accessory cable underneath the console. I have to
remove the whole thing because I decided to buy the Corvette Central Pioneer Radio for
Betty Boop. The one in The Ghost works great, this radio support today's technology
with USB, AUX, Bluetooth etc.
I finished the one by the passenger door. It doesn't look pretty, but IDGAF because it is
my Vette and it is to help me on future road trips. The GPS cable hanging at the center
started to bother me. The cable isn't long enough to reach the plug if I stretch it thru the
sun visor and A pillar. The new 12v outlet location is perfect. I thought about installing
the plug on the panel, but there is a sheet metal behind the panel and foam and to avoid a
short I decided to do it this way.
Power Source from the "cigar" fuse.
Ground
This extra C4 Plastic was already cracked.
The center console skeleton is cracked in half.
Perfect for my needs!!
For the longest both Vettes have an issue with the AC biuttons, most of the time I have to
press two-four times for it or them to work. I've read few threads on "how to clean them up"
so I decided to take a step.
The casing has 4-5mm screws on the front and 2-5mm on the back.
This is the contact. I cleaned it up with an eraser and compressed/canned air.

Update
UPDATE
I was at Pep Boys and saw something great. A 12V outlet and it was smaller than the
all others I've seen. I gave it few coats of liquid electrical tape.:seasix:
Took some measurements and it would not touch the metal plate. I made a mod to the
mod already in place.
A small preview on Betty Boop's on-going project
