Default Confused: Axle RPO Numbers

I just received the "build sheet" from the Corvette Museum for the '89 C4 corvette I recently bought. It lists two RPO codes for the "Axles" on my car: One code says G44 3.07 AX, The other code says G92 PERF RATIO AX. What is the difference between these axle codes? I thought the 3.07 Axle3 WAS the performance axle...?

GM's thoughts were the G92 would mean a performance axle of some kind, but since they only offered one the G44 seems redundant.

There were also 3.33's & 3.54's in '89MY. You need to associate the entire build of the car. This particular car is an A4 so the only G92 "performance axle" offered would be the G44. That's been a GM identification for many - many years. Many RPO's seem somewhat redundant but there's actually good reason for them.

The G92 - is a reference to a sales package that could vary in any of the sales areas around the country and depending on "car-line" the ratio can change also. It's not actually "redundant"!

They did pretty much the same thing with the ZF6.

You have MN6 for 6-speed manual transmission.
And also ML9 for the Manual, 6-Speed ZF

Since the ZF6 was the only 6-speed transmission available, it confuses some on why the two codes.
