96 Wiper Blades

96 Wiper Blades
I have a 96 Collector Edition. I have had the car for some time and wanted to change the wiper blades even though the car never sees rain. when looking in the owner's manual, it says to push on small wiper button with a screwdriver to release the blade. however, my wipers do not have such a button. i don't know how the person who had the car before me put the blades on. they are metal blades with a small spring in the middle. i even turned the blades over to see of there was a fastening clip or snap ring, but there is nothing. i tried to gently pry the blades off over the wiper arm ****, but the blades won't budge.
does anyone have any idea how to get the wiper blades off the wiper arm? i don't want to bend or scar anything.
was thinking of using Bosch blades as a replacement. they have the hole for the blade **** and also the small "release button" as described in the owner's Manual.
thanks.

IIRC, I used a small screwdriver to push the little spring down to release the blade. Careful you don't stab your self.
In fact I just went out & did it. When putting the new blades on remember to put a small amount of oil on the arm the blade slips onto.
The new blades shud be low profile, don't know if the one's you are planning to purchase are, so check that.
A replacement set is sold at Napa auto parts & fits perfectly.
They are Exact Fit, how about that, No. 60-020-4

If you have the OEM wipers, keep them and buy the rubber blade only. It's not easy to find wipers that will fit C4s to slide under the hood.

I have a 1995 and there is such a button to release the blades, if factory original. There has got to be a spring release on your current blades. Study the blade, don't pry or you will ruin something.

i just put blades on my 88 yesterday, i used the rainx ones. 2 seconds on the bench grinder took the plastic on the new blade down far enough to clear the hood.

1995 – 1996 uses a 20-4 But one way to tell for sure is your wiper arm should have a ¼” dia. Pin at the end. If it’s not then the pin dia. Will be 3/16” (20-4) ¼” pin (20-2) 3/16”pin.
