Default electric water pump install

I bought a new (open box) Meziere pump with everything except install
instructions. I've done my share of pumps and timing cover seals. I just want to know...does the pump drive shaft have to come out or stay in and
if it comes out what seals the hole. I only have the plug for the pump side.
I tried the Meziere web site but the install guide doesn't work.
Thanks ahead!

Jim

Even that did not address the drive shaft. I guess just leaving off the spacer/connector leaves enough room?

I had the same question when I did mine and I never got an answer that made me feel comfortable about leaving the drive stud sticking out of the front cover. I finally took off the front cover, pulled the timing chain and removed the pump drive assy completely. I plugged the hole in the front cover with a Kennedy 1/2 dollar and some JB weld and now I have no water OR oil leak in that area. It was a lot more work, but I think it was worth it in the long run.
