Just a quick question, the service engine soon light came on I reset it. Now it stays off. If something is really wrong how long before it comes back on ? Thanks

you should try and read the trouble code before you reset it again.

The whole point of the SES light is to tell you that something is wrong. Your job is to find out what the problem is:

Its not the end of the world-check engine light.
It is telling you that one or more of the monitored systems is not in factory recommended specs. You NEED to find out what the computer is complaining about. It could very well leave you stranded.
