GM Archives Division for Window sticker and vin cards
Gents
Number one newbie here with some very exciting news. I called GM today and was refered to thier Archives division. I was asking for a copy of my original build sheet and invoice/window sticker for the car.
After providing my vin they said for a mere $50.00 I could have a GM window sticker/invoice as the car had when it first shipped and they said they would throw in my duplicate plastic vin cards that were issued and givien with the valet and owners manual.
I was very excited and asked if they had other materials and they said it varies per car but in a week or two I would get and email or letter (I opted for the letter) and it would describe what I would be getting and the cost. I gave them my credit card info and the transaction is complete.
If anyone else needs or wants to contact GM for a window sticker/invoice and vin card duplicates the Archives number in Lavonia Michigan is 734-462-5543 x 163.
Good Luck!

The NCM offers a build sheet and a window sticker, but the price would be more

Thats cool. i was told I could not get a build sheet but they quickly offered up the window sticker and vin card duplicates and any other stuff affiliated with my particular car. Great info now I can order a build sheet.
Thanks,
Mike

Hopefully the OP will post some pics of the docs he gets. The versions that come from the National Corvette Museum are the full-size versions and the window sticker is in color. The build sheet is also full-size and looks exactly like what goes with the car down the assembly line in BG. The NCM also offers a lamination service for the docs.
If you order these from the NCM, it's a good idea to join the NCM first. That way you get the discounted prices for members. And the NCM dues are fully tax-deductible as a charitable contribution.

While doing some research on C3's, I was led to some threads here on CF that people have found build papers on top of their gas tanks and one guy found papers in their dash behind the gauge cluster. The most common place was on top of the gas tank. How about on C4's?

I heard the same thing recently from a friend who was a body shop guy. When I was looking for my info he said I should drop the tank and a sticker should be there with all the codes. I found one in the tray in the cargo area where my jack is under the cargo mat. I decoded it with help from the guys in the forum.

Yes, but I was very disappointed. It was a photocopy of the original invoice which showed where the car was shipped to, and what options were on the car, and the cost. Then they included a sheet with three webistes where they are trying to sell more crap.I am going to get my build sheet from the NCM.

Some months ago I tried to get a replacement SPID tag, which goes under the rear compartment cover. Without 1 I couldn’t get a replacement. the only company officially "licensed" by GM to make them, will not do it w/o a color copy of the original, with all the ode. If I had the original, I wouldn’t be trying to have one made. Kafka. I had some help, and got close, but its not the real thing. One of the PO’s took it and kept it as a souvenir.
