dad had the air cleaner off the car and noticed when you turn the key on, gas spews out into the throttle body, not a spray, but a stream like a garden hose. is this normal? what could cause this if not.

One TBI, or both? If just one, switch the connectors. Tell me if it still gushes in the same TBI, or if it gushes in the other one now.
