84 Wipers
In process of bringing back a 1984 Corvette. For the inspection sticker the wipers have to work. I had no power or motion to the wipers. Replaced the circuit board and now have wipers only at the beginning of the delay cycle and they park without problem. Confused as to a wiper motor problem or to dig deeper into the wiper switch as the problem.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
John

To test the motor, it's best to have it off. Looking at the connection on the casting, the pins are3,2,1, left to right. the connection on the cover is 7,8,6 L to R and on the end cap 4,5. To get lo speed connect a ground to 8, a jumper from 4 to 1, and a jumper from 2 to 3 to 12v.. For high speed, ground to 8, jumper 4 to 1, jumper 2 to 3, and 12v to 5.. For park you ground 8, jumper 4 to 1 and 12v to 3. For pulse, ground 8, jumper 4 to 1, 12v to 2 and 12v through a 500 ohm resistor to 6..
Hope this helps..

2 things I found out on my 1985. I pulled the plug out of the bottom of the motor and cleaned with contact cleaner, and the second was that on the inside of the cap/circuit board make sure the part that looks like a pointer is aimed directly at the lower right right hand screw hole when reinstalling, I lucked out to find that tip. I have not had a problem since. I was ready to replace everything and it was all ok.

Theoretically using the same numbering as in post 3, with the motor disconnected, key on, jumper 4 to 1 for all the tests, in low speed you should get ground on 8 and 12v on 2 and 3. With switch on high, ground on 8 and 12v on 5. For park , ground on 8 and 12v on 3. For pulse ground on 8, 12v on 2 plus whatever 12v ends up through a 500 ohm resistor.. (On the connectors it would be 6 8 7, 5 4 and 1 2 3 L to R)

Had some free time today and it seems as if the wiper switch is bad. Seems very pricey and hard to find. Can they be cleaned or repaired?
Thanks,

You have nothing to lose by popping it apart for a look.
