Check your oil
Well, to be more specific....check it when you buy it.
I changed out the oil in my friends 94 on Friday. I told her the day before to stop into Walmart and pick up a jug of 10-30 Mobil 1 (5 quart container) which was on sale for $24.97. Which she did.
After replacing the oil filter and draining the oil I asked her to get the oil out of her car. She handed it to me and the jug didn't feel right. There was a small film of oil on the outside. Told her to check the back end of her Corvette to see if any oil had got onto her carpet. She had a blanket in the back and there was a very light spot of oil, but none on the carpet. I started to remove the top of the container....this is twisting way too EASY. Got the top off and there was no foil covering the mouth of the container. It was filled with USED OIL.
Some A hole had filled the container with their used oil and had returned it to Walmart and got their money back.
So if you buy the large five quart container be sure that the top is sealed!

How low will some people go. That is why at certain stores items over $4.99 are behind the counter. A few holes ripping off stores and everyone suffers.

Kinda gives new meaning to the term "Oil Change" when you change your oil for the oil from someone else!

I had something similar happen at Harbor Freight once. I bought a manual oil pumper (that installs in a 5-gallon bucket of gear oil), but wisely opened it before leaving the store. Someone had used it, put it back in the box, and returned it. It was very obvious, and apparently the moron at the store that took the exchange didn't bother to open the box, and just tossed it back on the shelf.
I would've been more aggravated getting home and discovering it.

Years ago I bought a hard drive at Best Buy. It was shrink wrapped and inside was a used very old drive. I tried to return it and thy did not belive me an threatened to call the cops. I called their corporate office and got the same kind of treatment. I have not been back in 10 years.I Wonder how much money thy have lost by now, I fix computers for all my family and friends.

I always thought Walmart was a top shelf type store. I've never seen any weirdo's in there and they are always dressed so finely. Heck, lots of people from other countries go there in large groups just to be part of it! First, used oil being sold! What's next? The valet parking there might be found out to be an auto theft ring?

EXACTLY! By the way, Saturday nights at Walmart are the best times to see such upstanding pillars of society where I live. Some even wear long underwear under their baggy short pants and sandals with socks on.

I didn't know about Saturday night. So all this time I have been taking the wife out for an occasional dinner and a movie and we could have been going to Walmart! I am glad you let me know about this well kept entertainment secret .

Almost happened to me once. I was buying a Mobile 1 oil filter at Autozone and noticed oily fingerprints on the box so I opened it. Somebody's used oil filter! I gave it to the clerk so someone else didn't buy it.

Bought a small can of Bondo with the cream hardener in the top lid from an auto parts store.... took it home for use in a non-car project, and sure enough, someone had used about 1/4 of the can and some of the hardener; and then closed it up and returned it! Thankfully I needed just a teeny bit, and the rest will no doubt go bad before I ever need any more, but its the dang principle that its still theft. Low life's...

At Wally Mart I am grateful for those socks...I have no desire to see what's under them.
But it is a nice heads up. I've heard of people doing this stuff, and since have always checked the seal. I can't believe that the people at Walmart's return center haven't figured this trick out by now. Why the wouldn't check for this crap, I do not know. It would probably save the company hundreds of thousands in returns every year.
