Default whoa Nelly.

cruzing to the tranny shop to have my leak found, great day finally, near 50 here in indy/brownsburg. Going the back way, got near John Force's race shop..whoop, suddenly I am topless and the targa top ( just bought the solid one after hunting for a replacement,,first was broken when I bought the car) appeared in my reatr view mirror. Whoaaa Nelly...car back behind me dodged it..i reversed, hopped out with fear in my heart, seeing winged dollar bills flying off into the sky..reached down to pick it up..NO, NONE, Not a bit of damage. thanks to that special winged gear head Angel in the sky. Whew. Some idiot forget it wasnt tightened down.

Nice thing about doing something like this is that you generally only do it once.

Count your blessings....you got off easy.

It is only a matter of time until it happens to all of us.
Glad nothing happened to it.

Just a trick I use when I have the top off for a few days and its parked outside if im at a beach house, vaca, etc...

If i just lay it on top to keep any light rain out, I always put the targa top tool on my shifter. This reminds me to take it off or tighten the f'er down.

I flew mine the first year I had the car. Still laugh at how I was so lucky.

I did the same thing to my solid fiberglass top - ONCE!!!!
I just got it repaired and painted because my vette was in the shop to be repaired and painted anyway!
Had it sitting in the garage for 17 yrs cause I didn't want to pay the money to get it fixed, but the timing was now right and so was the price! Now I have both the painted fiberglass as well as the acrylic top!

I too put the ratchet on the shifter if the top has not been bolted down all the way or is just sitting on the car.
You'll only do it once!!!!

With as much noise as mine makes when it's cold when the bolts back themselves out on the passenger side I know pretty quick when it's time to tighten it back down.

I didn't have mine fly off the car or anything once, but around the time I'd first gotten the car I was driving down the highway and seeing air between the A pillar and the roof. That was enough lesson for me.....hopefully.
