I'm new to the vette, and the aftermarket sony stereo that is in there now is shot.

How can i tell if it originally came with a bose stereo system or not ?

I will be getting a new head unit and speakers, as well as building a custom fit enclosure for 2 shallow subs in the rear and wiring everything myself.

If you know where your RPO codes are (usually under the lid of your console or under the top of the rear storage bin) Not sure, where they are on your 84? Then you can look on this website.

If your doors have grilles from the factory,you had a Bose. But the RPO check is more reliable.

^^^ agreed. if there was no Bose originally the rear speakers just has small Delco logos instead of the Bose logos. the key giveaway to a base audio system is the lack of speaker grills on the front doors. RPO codes or the build sheet are the sure answers.

I don't have speaker grills on the front doors, and the rear grills don't have the logo inserts anymore. Carpet covers the front door panel speakers.

It was on a label in the storage bin compartment behind the driver's seat.

I decoded it and it was originally black exterior with graphite interior.

Z51 suspension pkg from factory, was this standard suspension common on all vettes ? or was it an option ?
