86 Drivetrain price?
Hi guys, I'm trying to sell my old toy - 86 automatic, but I have feeling it'll be tough to get any decent price for it these days. Don't really want just give it away, so at the end I might consider parting it out...What is fair price for complete drive train in mint condition nowdays? (engine, tranny, rear end)(can be seen running, driving etc.)

Jeeeez. Don't part out a decent car. If you have that little attachment to it, and you are not hard up for the cash, sell it cheap to some kid with stars in his eyes.

Well, the times are very tough , I can't afford just to give it away. I need to recover some of the money I've just spent on 94 convertible, which also needs minor TLC. What you think is fair price for complete perfect running 86 nowdays?

How are the body, paint, and interior? Those items are expensive, especially body and paint. Pics and a description would help. We just saw a new forumite pay $6500 for a quite nice '86 Coupe with 100k.

3 grand is a good starting point...that lets you come down some if need be. My 86 is a running, driving, needs a lot of TLC that I bought for $2,300. Biggest problem was finding a cheap replacement targa top..did that for 100 bucks..need to pull the auto trans cause it has a front seal leak. Runs great though and is a blast to drive. Yes, it needs a paint job (sun damage) and inside is , well, its the inside. Also needed a wiper arm and put in a replacement wiper motor, new battery and am in the middle of hood release cables now. SO, your honey should be worth at least 3.

Here are couple pictures, paint is perfect except one corner on rear bumper needs touch up, door panels not perfect (age), driver seat a little worn, needs passenger window switch (still works), but mechanically car is perfect.

Sell one or two parts and then end up paying someone to tow away the rest. There's not a big demand for early C4 parts. Unless you think your car is worth less than $1500, you will be ahead to sell it whole.

I do not see an emblem on the clam shell. Also the paint on the quarter looks odd. Could be a trick of the light, though. The spoiler hurts value. Overall I would say you could get $3000 for the car even if the paint is marginal and the seat needs work. So I do not think it is worth more as parts.
