Melting Slicks
you have to pull the console it's mounted in.
Pull the fuse marked "cigar" or something similiar (or undo the negative battery cable),
On each side of the rear of the console (by the coin holder) are two small screws. At the bottom of the forward cup holder well (or ashtray, take your pick) is another small scrfew. Lift and pull the console rear ward, there are three tabs on the forward end which will pull out from the dash. You should now be able to access the lighter; while it looks like its one piece, the part you see is actually a barrel that screws over the lighter itself; unscrew to remove.
some directions say you have to remove the door from the glove box, which is no big deal, but usually you can manuever the console up, out and around it.
likewise there should be enough slack in the shifter boot to allow access to the cigarette lighter without first removing the boot; but if necessary there are only 4 small srews at the base of the boot which have to be removed (at least on a manual transmission).
good luck ...and don't you know smoking is bad for your health ?

re title and register Vette's down under ...
pre 69 bring straight in and register , no mod's needed , 69 till 89 ?? , they have to be complied to our ADR's Australian Design Rules , Headlights , tail lights , indicators ,that sort of stuff ?? I think over 89 they have to be converted to RHD and complied then engineered ... my 88 Targa is a mirror RHD , the only noticeable difference is the smaller foot well on the right hand side ,,,,cheers Ray ...
