Nexen Tires

I have done a lot of testing with performance tires (I work for bridgestone) and I can say that the company that makes Nexen tires should just throw in the towel. Their rubber compound is too hard, they still use welded bands in their tires, making them have a heavy spot and easily go out of round and aren't stable at high speeds.
Now, I am not going to preach about how you should get bridgestones or firestones, although they do make great performance tires. In the performance tire world, and in the tire world in general, you get what you pay for. I would suggest either a Nitto, Yokohama or a Bridgestone tire. Any of those will give you the best performance tire.

Better grip nice smooth ride no problems at high speed, better grip in wet and dry compared to tires worth three times as much.
Although Carbd84 bagged them (maybe they have made improvements recently) i have nothing but praise for them, they are a silica tread compound as my hankook tires were but have a lot more grip. Note my car is supercharged and i have no problems driving it in wet weather, they are just so good.
I have 275 40 17 all round on 17x9.5 A molds.

Nexen N3000 tires.
I had them and I know it is a choice but I took them off due to safety reasons. They tend to have bubbles that blowout through the side walls so watch out for serious bumps and pot holes because you will then see first hand that the tires do not hold up through normal wear and craftsmanship. I switched to Cooper Zeon RS3-A 275 40 R17 and so far they are pretty good, stick well to dry and wet roads but they tend to wear faster than the 40 mile warranty suggested.

Drifting
The previous owner of my 90 had brand new ones on it when I bought it 3 years ago, no issues at all. I did have Les Schwab sipe them for more traction. I never drive in bad weather at all, so can't comment on that, but in dry conditions there are no issues.

had Nexen N3000 tires on my old 2005 Acura TL and never had any issues. Pretty reliable tire I got about 50-60k miles out them before I replaced them.. granted this wasn't a performance car just a daily driver

I had this brand on a Mazda6 that I owned a while back. They were ok tires. They were billed as "all season" but in reality they had zero traction in even a dusting of snow. The tread pattern did not look all season (vee shaped treads and almost no sipes). I ended up using steelies with snow tires for winter use and saved the nicer wheels with the nexen tires for better weather. Other than that no complaints. Sold the car with the those tires so can't say how long they lasted.

I have some on an older 7 series and am neither pro nor con. the 18" wheels really limit my choices.
Two brands I will never buy again are Dunlop and B-stones. I've never had truly round Dunlops, but at least they wore unevenly and pucked, on Vettes and bikes.
I've been favorably impressed with Goodyear and Michelin, agreeing that they are worth the cost. The original G/Ys got noisy with age, but tire wear was unreal (+) while affording plenty of grip in aggressive street driving. BFGs were okay, but I am now running GSCs based upon prior experience.
This topic is like many including oil brands: plenty of enthusiastic, widely varying opinions

My 89 came with a new set of Nexens. I only have 300 miles on them and I have no complaints. I like that they are quiet and the side walls shine up easily with some tire shine. The car has a nice on center feel. My wife's car has Cooper Zeons summer tires and I really like the look of those. I believe Nexen is a Cooper import brand. I have given both some freeway ramp testing and they both grip well without squealing.

I got a set of custom 17" ZR1 wheels and they came from the store with the Nexen tires as a package. I truly expected to have to replace the tires at some point.....they do ride a bit hard, but over all they offer great bang for the buck. It's been 2 yrs now and they are still going strong.

What tire pressure do you run?
Sidewall bubbles are usually caused by under inflation and potholes.
I have had these tires for more than two years now with no problems at all
I run 35 psi on the road and 38 psi on the track.
The Nexen tires have survived many potholes and are stable at high speed, have had these nexen tires to 280 km with hard braking and heavy cornering on the track.
Still nice and round with smooth side walls .
I believe these are the best grip tires I have ever had.
my vette is no trailer queen, she gets dirtier than some 4x4 off road cars.
These are the pictures taken today on our road trip with the nexen tires all round off road 😀😀☺

Im glad that the tires worked out for you. I bought mine in 2008 and they had issues with side wall bubbles and found out they had bad compound and the style of manufacturing the tires is not the same since 2010 they stopped the molding process road surface to side wall and added silica to compound formula. But in any case I fought with Nexen for 4 months to get back only 3/4 of my money. I went out and purchased Cooper RS3-S tires and yes they are non-directional but great tires with 40.000 mile warranty. I like the traction in dry and wet weather. I don't drive my car in bad weather is I can help it. Corvette 1989 Black convertible with a 383 stroker installed and new direcdt fit Magna Flow cat back system.

Update...I hit a massive pothole yesterday that actually caused pain in my left wrist and ankle from the jarring. The Car seems all right as far as I can tell. It was on a curve and I never saw it. Anyway, when I inspected the wheels there were no marks or damage on the Nexens or rims. I checked the pressures and they are all between 30 and 32 psi. I am not happy about hitting that pothole but at least it gave me confidence in the tires.
