The Wave....
Of all the things my Corvette is/does, the thing my wife loves the most is the wave. She loves seeing the cars that drive past and wave, so I make it a point to wave when I'm in my vette. Frankly though it's become quite discouraging lately.
C4's wave back but only sometimes and usually it's with a look of confusion, C3's are 50/50, C5's and C6's don't wave back at all usually and honestly it's a bit sad.
Today however a minor victory when passing three cars traveling as a group. Two Tempest GTO's and a Red 1957 Vette.
The 57 Waved. Made my wife's night. Maybe there's hope after all.
Save the Wave.

"The Wave" is a paradigm.

My brother was ridding around with me one day, I got a wave from a C6 driver. He asked me if I knew the other person, I said no. 10 minutes later I got a wave from a C5 driver, my brother asked me what's going on. I told him about the Corvette wave and now he wants a Vette just because of that.

I do wave to every Corvette on the road and like to get a wave back... C6 owners dont have the feeling they are driving a Corvette they wave to Cady's instead!

A C6 driver waved at us this morning. He waved first. I've had nearly all generations wave, and nearly generations not wave. I say nearly, because I've not yet encountered a C1 on the road.

LOL... here's an ironic twist.
Spent the last two days helping out the AutoX folks... at the FORD Nationals at Carlisle.
Yes... brought the Corvette both times.
No... it wasn't vandalised.
Yes... received all colors of comments.
No... was not car-jacked.
The best response was from other Mustang owners... the WAVE!
I stopped in the lot and was told they too also own Corvettes.

I way at all Vettes and the C3s and C4s way back almost every time. The C5s wave maybe half the times and the C6s wave maybe 10% of the time. I have not seen C1s nor C2s on the roads around here.

I am a c4 driver and i wave no matter what even if its late. But yeah i get alot of people who dont wave back. Usually I use a salute type motion and i dont know if its that easy to see. But i make it obvious. Especially with the top down.

I wave...they wave back good, then don't wave back no big deal...just lets me know which owners bought the car because they love Corvettes and whichs owners bought the car because they are just trying to keep up with the Joneses...at which point I don't want them waving back!!

Almost all of the drivers around here that notice you waving will wave back. I know I miss waves because I didn't see the other car or was otherwise pre-occupied; not all missed waves are snubs.

This thread has the potential to produce a mountain of butt hurt. Let's get this party started.....
If you want others to wave at you, buy a motorcycle.

Melting Slicks
The second time I ever drove my Corvette (after buying it from the previous owner and driving it home) was to the DMV to get the title transferred. On the way home I pull up next to a C6, both first in line at a red light. I rev my engine to get his attention but he's busy yakkin on the phone. Light turns green, I take off quick and he finally realizes he's next to another 'vette. He hammers it and bumps the limiter to catch me, which he does easily. At that point I slow down because he easily has me beat. We look at each other with a big grin, wave, and go on our merry ways. I'll cherish that memory as long as I own this car. I want to wave all the time but I drive my pickup more than the 'vette! Guess I could still wave anyway just to make them wonder...

After reading this thread, I wondered what the frequency was for the various "wave" threads on the forum. Seems there's a fresh one every couple weeks or so, all over the forum.
They dont always start the same, but its usually some version of "how come people dont wave at me?" and generally finds its way to "people in C (poster's generation) cars usually wave, but people who drive C (whatever cars they dont like) never do." Usually (unless its started by a C6 owner) there's always a comment that includes, "C6 owners arent really Corvette people because they bought their cars because of X or Y, instead of Z." Wave threads almost always include a comment where someone demonstates a mind-reading ability to know why a perfect stranger bought their car.
I remember reading one such comment about C5 owners. I thought, "how come Im a poopy head when Im driving my wife's C5, but Im suddenly different when Im driving my C1 or C3?"
Pretty much all "wave thread" includes these elements.
So I searched Thread titles with "wave" in them. There were 247 threads in the search. Interestingly, the vast majority were by C4, C5 and YES C6 owners.
And yes, everyone thinks everyone else isnt a real Corvette person because they dont wave.
