Default FYI, "American made" brake parts

Just for everyones info, I was looking for brake rotors for my 2005 Ford truck. I wanted to get "American Made" rotors but was running into, "made in china" ones. Everything and everywhere I looked, was nothing but made in china.

But, I finally found one. AMERICAN MADE. In Chatsworth, California, where they manufacture all their own parts, "on site", (and free shipping). Go to the following web site and click on "about us" to find out.

http://brakeperformance.com/index.php

As Americans, we need to shop for "AMERICAN MADE".

Made in China... white box specials. I work for Honda and see them all the time. The difference in quality between them and factory units is staggering!

I would bet that is a lie. Last I knew the north American foundries all closed. I haven't heard of one opening since.

Good question; the rotors may be made in America, but where is the steel made?

Are you sure the box they came in was what was made in USA or the rotors? I have seen this trick before although not with brake rotors.

I picked up a set of front pads for the C4 not too long ago and shockingly, they were made in USA (so the box said) Satisfied was the brand I believe.

I've just about given up looking for USA made car parts..I spent more time looking for items saying USA then it would take to install the parts..Like mentioned above, we did this to ourselves, now we have to live with it.....WW

Just taking a quick look, but all I see is "machined in the US" under the drilled and slotted ones. I didn't see "Made in the USA"

Could these be Chinese rotors with this company doing the drilling/slotting here?

It may be our faults but we do not have to live with it, we can take the extra time it takes to find these parts made in America and purchase them, just consider it your way of making amends for shopping at Walmart and taking the low road. now is the time to take our country back.

I would bet so.

The Canada foundry closed too, last I knew.

You're right about one of the last foundries that closed was in Canada. That plant made rotors for a variety of brands including Brembo. IIRC, that plant closed about 3 years ago and the manufacturing equipment was sold to companies in China.

Maybe the chinese stuff is OK for "regular" cars, but I just don't see the material quality or workmanship showing up in high performance components. Sure the chinese factories may turn out good stuff initially as it has to meet a number of specs, but once the inspectors quit checking, then these plants will substitute lower grade material and cut corners where they can.

Default DBA Rotors

DBA Rotors are made in Australia and seem to get good reviews. Never had any personal experience with them and krikey, they seem a bit pricey, mate.
Just thought I pass this on.

Sooo where do we buy quality rotors and pads, My 95 stops like its on ice. It feels like only the frt brakes are working. Girl friend drove it yesterday and came home wanting to know what was wrong with them!!! My Caddis stop on a dime. So on the hunt for new performance rotors and pads.
