Default C4 weight

Every time I think about how much my car weighs I always hope that its like 3000lbs even but I know its supposed to be like 3268 or something along those lines. (1990 z51 6 speed)

Anyways, I weighed my car today... with 4 gallons of gas in it. 3250lbs. I felt like I accomplished something.

You're definitely a boundary pusher.

Do you own a weighbridge?

No I dont, just have access. You know how it is. If you are around something that spits out numbers or stats you gotta do something crazy with it. (At least I do) I know. Not that crazy. But it was 500lbs over the gross weigh :p

I am just glad my spring didn't snap

Sometimes I loose sleep over it. Now I know how much a C4 with 4 gallons of gas weight. What kind of gas did you have in the tank?

How much non-essential easy stuff can you remove to really get that weight down even further? Maybe, owners manual, jack, targa wrench, lug nut covers, roof, air filter, drain a couple quarts of oil, lower coolant level, windshield washer tank, quarters under the seat, cigar lighter and ashtray,...

your spring may have not snapped, but I believe something has. Did you check the loose nut behind the steering wheel? Just kidding.

so anyways. I filled my car full of my books and stuff. I am moving so I figured ill see how heavy I can get it.

4280lbs. Filled the tank and I had 900lbs worth of junk in my car. I felt bad. But n ow we know. If you fill your car with a lot of junk and you have a stock spring... the exhaust will constantly touch the ground. I am just glad I havent got my new exhaust yet!
Does your car still have the door sticker that shows the shipping weights? There will be a value for each axle, the total shipping weight (empty car with a few gallons of gas) and also the maximum cargo weight. 3200+ plus sounds about right. My '87 is slightly heavier at 3400 lbs

The cargo weight is important so you don't overload the car. Most C4's have a max cargo weight of around 450 lbs. By loading a half-ton in the car, you could very well have broken a spring or created a very bad handling condition.
