87 front rear bumper update help please
Hi everyone
I am updating the front and rear bumpers on my 87. I have
the front and rear bumpers from a 91. Now for the front I have
acquired the styrofoam bumper insert for the 91 bumper cover,
what else do I need to make the front work? I have removed the
87 bumper crash collapse insert if that is what you call it. There
were a number of screws and rivets I had to remove to get the
collapse insert from the inside bumper, however, the styrofoam
insert has different holes in it. How do I make this all work.
How and what do I need to make the rear work.
Thanks in advance

Unless it's an aftermarket cover, you need the whole assembly. Nothing adapts over. Individually the parts are very expensive. The whole assembly bolts on.

I know the whole assembly bolts on. But the front and rear covers
are not aftermarket. I live in Phoenix as well, no I didn't think the
parts are expensive. I got both bumpers for 100 bucks. I am just
trying to figure out what other parts I need to make this work!
Have you done this swap yourself?

Many times. The lights and the mountings are different, The front inner fenderwells are different. The rear is fairly easy, you can trim the egg crate to make it fit. Whole frt. bumperasms usually go for about $500-$750 for the 91 up, Less than half of that for the 90 down. Rear bumper with lights about $300. Less than $100 for the 90 down. Each front fog lamp is $150-$200, about $50 for the sides. Inner fenderwell about $50+ if you can find them. Inner support about $250, Cover about $250. You are ahead of the game...so far. You might get lucky again, but the parts you need are hard to come by. If I remember, on an 87 you also need the rear, center and upper fenderwell.

I have all the lights, turn signals etc. Front and rear. I have the
front styrofoam for the 91 cover which on my 87 was an egg crate.
* What do I need to make the styrofoam and my front bumper
cover work? *
Is there anyone who has DONE this swap?

Hi
I did this swap on my 85 ten years ago, you need the complete bumper bars impact absorber and the impact bar with the four bolts that you bolt onto your rails.
The 84-88 need an adapter to fit the lower part of bumper to the wheel splash guards ( where the air dam spoiler bolts on).
Is adifferent shape and arc, hold the front bumper on car and use shims to get the gap between bumper and hood right. You will need to lift the whole assembly to match the hood contour then bolt it up, the door and rear quarter panels will need the wide molds as well as the small fenders from a 91-96.
The rear bumper also needs the correct impact absorber and is easy to bolt up.
Good luck
