Special Edition 1985?
There's a 1985 corvette on craigslist, and the guy said he would take 3,300$. The paint is pretty good, a little bit faded. The interior is cloth, and in not that good of condition. He said it was his dads, and he tells me his dad moved and gave it to tys automotive to sell, and his son (the seller) would split the profit with the ty's automotive. He said they did a complete tune up, fixed a headlight motor, and maybe a few other things, which costed 1200 apparently. He says it's mostly or all original, as far as he knows, but it has some different paint on it that I've never seen before. It's a two tone silver, which I have seen before, but it has the word corvette going across the side, which may be just a decal. Was there a special edition 1985 corvette? Or is it just a regular silver one with decals on it?Because I haven't seen one like this. Is this not original paint? Anyone seen or know about these? Is it worth 3300?

Silver and Gray two tone paint was an option for 1985.
As good as that paint looks though (at least from a distance), it might be a re-paint.
That decal on the side is not a factory option though.
Also, the side skirts and lower front valance are not factory.
Cloth seats were also factory.
I am not aware of any "special edition" for the '85

No such animal. Someone added a body kit, spoiler, louvers, paint, rims, fake woodgrain dash...it's a mess. The cloth interior is legit but doesn't really add any value, and all the 80s custom touches will take some value away for most buyers. If it runs ok, it might be worth what the 3.3k but not much more. As filthy as the interior is, if the rest of the car was taken care of the same way, I'd be suspicious. If you get it, be ready to spend more than you paid to keep it up.

Corvette Action Center is a great resource for information pertaining to any year car. That craigslist car is definitely a custom job, through and through. Take a look at the link below...no "special editions" were made in 1985. 1985's claim to fame was the introduction of the L98 TPI 350 and Car and Driver calling the Corvette the fastest American made car with a top end of 150 mph.

Those are Craiger louvers sold through GM and very period correct. It would have been better if the Louvers were left Black or painted like the color of the car below the beltline. That would have broke up all the silver going especially with the GTO rear spoiler. A prime example of Mid 80s Dealer add on equipment that you really dont see anymore. Interior woodgrain I cant beleive that was ever popular however it was. GC.

Factory optional paint but the rest of it is of 80's J.C.Whitney catalog.
If you frequent Craigslist enough you will find that every year is a special edition according to the seller.
For 3,300 kind neat though if it runs and drives, and someone already stuck a Camaro CD player in it for you.

That's the first time I ever liked the look of louvers on a Corvette. Would not like to see them painted black.
It's surprising how good the exterior looks and how bad the interior looks.
I am not a big fan of all the wood trim, but it's the filth that makes the interior look bad, not the wood.

I personally like it. like 91 black convert said, it's just the filth that makes the interior look bad. The only thing i would do to it is swap out the seats for some nice leather ones. but price is fair if the car is truly in good working condition.

not too bad for the price. Looks like it was in a time capsule since the mid 80's. Nothing special edition nor was there one in 85, everything's aftermarket. I remember back in the day the only thing really new was the tpi motor.
