OBDII Code Reader
Will an OBDII code reader work on a 93? I thought I heard the 93 was the transition year where it has an OBDII plug but the OBDI computer. Is this correct?

Scanner: Best dang tool in the box, next to a screwdriver!!
I bought an AutoXray scanner, right after I got my 95 LT1 Vette back from the shop with a "no problem found" report...a problem which returned on my way home from that shop!
Cliff is right tho, be sure to get the right connector/cable. Prior to 96 the cars were OBD-I. However, in spite of my 95 being OBD-I, the cable/connector for the ALDL is the OBD-II type. Prior to that the ALDL was the OBD-I style.
Another option, if you have a laptop, is to install one of the tuner software packages, e.g., "TunerPro" or the like. You should be able to get the proper connector/cable from them as well.

94 was the first year with the 16 pin ALDL plug and OBD 1. I know bcause i have one. Also bought the older AUTOXRAY for ODB 1 and it has the 12 pin connector. They make a 16 pin connector, however, the AUTOXRAY i have will not recognize it. Hvae to use jumpers from my 16 PIN ALDL connector in the car to the 12 pin adapter on the AUTOXRAY.
BTW, have you ever run their software on Windows 7? I had to get them to send me an upgrade for XP about 9 years ago, but after a short while, it quit working (not blaming AUTOXRAY at all) and I never got around to trying to install it on Windows 7.

I bought the XP 240 because it was inexpensive ($60). Wish I now had spent the money on a ODB I and II scanner, although not sure if the 16 pin connector would work for the 94-95 years. Looking for jumpers to try the above method with my 16 pin connector.

Not arguing w/ ya re the transition year. My literature that I received with the 1000 AUTOXRAY scanner specifically says 95 requires the transition connector. But, I guess the point is, whether 94 was the transition year or not, knowing there are two types and to be aware of that fact (which is now pretty well established!) is the main thing.
