My 94' coupe makeover
I bought the car a few years ago with 99k miles and now finally have time to clean it up. I had changed the fluids and spark plugs along with four wires, couldn't see where the others went to so left them in. Always had hesitation problems just didn't have time to mess with it. Now that I sold 2 of the three 67' oldsmobiles I have, I've got garage space.
My son painted it in tech school, it was his then but now he's got a 14' Camaro so I get the corvette. Basically my plans were to finish doing the sparks plug wires and check things as I went, doing the fuel filter etc. I wanted to fix the hesitation problem. Also it leaked oil which during my teardown I figured it was the rear flange of the intake, the RTV had blown out. Noticed a leak around one of the water pump mounting bolts so I knew that had come out too. I'll be driving the car often so I wanted to check things out and replace what needed to be replaced. I also have the dash pad out to fix and need to replace the carpet and seat covers.
As the pictures show I got my hands full getting it back together. I do have a service manual which will help out a lot along with the folks on this forum I'm sure.
I did find out the engine is out of a 94' Camaro or at least the block so I wanted to look it over real good. I didn't like how the engine harness was routed and the plastic covering was coming apart so out it came, I'm replacing the wrapping on the harness. I'm getting long winded so I'll cut to the chase, I bought so far a Delco Opti, Delco coil, Delco water pump, Accel injectors, fuel pressure regulator, and a set of coated Hooker shorty headers. Will reseal the intake and replace valve cover gaskets.
I have the exhaust removed and need to replace the cats I assume, the car has 108k now, don't know about the motor. I was thinking a straight exhaust into muffler eliminators maybe? I'm 53 and still like noise, my tunnel rammed big block 442 makes enough.
Sorry for being long winded, my Parkinson's let up some and I take every chance I get. I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Sounds like a nice project! Lovin' the '67 442 in the background. A friend of mine had both a '69 Cutlass S with a Ram Rod 350 and a '67 442 in burgundy I did some mild resto work on for him. Long live Olds!
Anyhow, it sounds like you are replacing all of the ignition stuff all at the same time. Not a bad idea with 108K on the clock. Be careful with the Opti when installing it and do your very best to keep it dry whenever you drive it...NO deep puddles! I'd recommend a Hypertech 180 t-stat and if you care to do it a Meziere electric water pump. That will help keep the engine cool. Flush ALL of the Dex-cool out of the engine...bad stuff. I have read that the latest version is better than what came in these cars all those years ago.
I'd use an off-road y-pipe and go with resonators or eliminators. Don't sweat a stall for it until you do a cam swap. Pass on a 58mm TB unless you stoke it or run a stupid-big cam. Make sure to get a solid dyno tune once you have everything in place. They can also program the ECM for your new t-stat as well so that the fans kick on at the right temp.
Did I say avoid all deep water puddles?
That's my 2 cents...keep up the good work!

Finally got the engine harness out, had to disconnect from under the dash to pull through the firewall. Just going to rewrap it and replace any bad connectors. Nice being able to get at the engine with all the things out of the way.
I'm replacing the Opti and pump just because I guess, don't know what the engine has for miles since it is a transplant.
I added a few pics for some Olds fans and of the 88' coupe I bought brand new back in 88'

Here are some pics I took at the National Corvette Museum of an LT4 engine. Maybe this will help you reference how the spark plug wires are supposed to go:

Nice, I like the "A" bodies. I just sold my red and blue 67's. The blue was a 4-speed 442 and the red a C/S. I had a 66' 442 ragtop back in 76' also, i was 16 then.
Thanks for all the other replies, and thanks "corvetteronw" for the wiring pics.
Well time to get back to the C4.

Well my engine bay is clear of most things except for the A/C system.
Just wondering if anyone has tried to remove and replace pistons and rods while the block is in the car?
I know the FSM has the procedure, even doing the main bearings, just wondering how fun it is. I don't have the room to pull the motor or don't want to if I don't have to. It's a 100k car, engine mileage unknown, not sure how far I should go. Want to make the car my daily driver and I want it to be reliable. Thanks.

Well got the oil pan off no problem, surprised how easy it was with the engine installed. Definitely verified not a corvette block, two bolt mains, knew this by the code on the block beforehand. Now it's deciding what to do now the pan is off. Thinking of getting new pistons and rods or maybe doing a re-ring job, don't know yet. Maybe just rings because there is no way to balance if I replace the rods and pistons. I could do it by weighting I guess. Once I get the hub off I need to pull the front cover and replace the seals. I probably have gone way overboard on this but it'll be worth it in the end.

Working on the cowl area now. Needed a major cleaning because part of one screen had come loose letting in debris. Once I get the block out there will be very little left in the engine compartment. This is turning into a restoration. Have plans to rebuild the motor or pick up a long block at Rockauto or Napa maybe.

This is looking so nice! Glad that this C4 has found a good home. Nice pics of the '67s and of the '88 C4. Looks like yours, like mine, was a base coupe. Not too many of those made actually in '88. Most had either the Z51 or Z52 suspension.

I like your choices in cars.
I had a couple '94's and an '88 (Corvettes) and a few Olds also.
My '66 4 speed. Was black, painted it silver.
My '68 4 speed. Several motors. Went to a '70 W-30, then a SD 421 Pontiac.
Don't have pictures of the white '64.

Thanks. I heard that the base coupes were rare, I liked the single slotted wheels better than the Z package wheels. I ended up trading it in with only 3500 miles on it because I was getting married

Nice cars, I'm still a diehard Olds fan. Here's my 66' I had. A new 83' cutlass on the other side.

Thanks Lee.
This is not for the faint at heart. Had to track down mice by removing the air duct. It's a mess behind the IP and will have to remove it also. For the one thing that I'm having trouble with is the plug for the fog lights. That thing does not want to come out. Funny but every electrical plug is a different puzzle, they just don't pull out, you have to figure out how to unlock it. I'll end up cutting the fog light plug. Oh yeah, everything is plastic.
