Lt1 mpg
I've had my '95 coupe stock Lt1, 120,000 miles, 3.07 rear, new plugs, wires, fuel filter, opti, basically running perfect for a year now. I've put 15,000 miles on it and average 22.5 MPG on the highway at average 70 MPH. How is it I read about so many people saying they are getting around 27 MPG? I run Chevron premium gas.

95 with 3:54 gears, 6 speed manual. Around town I am averaging 18.5 MPG. On the freeway for a long trip I get 29 MPG. By long trip, I am talking 900 miles one way.

I can get 27-28 mpg and sometime even 30 mpg under the right conditions.
Nice flat Midwest interstate with cruise set on 70 mph.
But over the course of a full tank it won't be that good.
See this chart of actual mileage from my '96 LT4
I recorded the fuel I pumped into the tank and the mileage driven at each fuel stop.
Stop #1 was from Rolla, MO to Minock, IL (all almost flat interstate).
That stretch is the best I have ever done, and the conditions have to be just right.
It was a nice spring day, so didn't have the A/C running and just set the cruise.
On that same sheet, you'll notice one of the stops at 18.05 mpg.
That was in more hilly terrain with lots of stop and go traffic.
Also, probably had some more "spirited" driving mixed in.
The bottom line though, is after driving a total of 2,522 miles on that trip I averaged 24.010 mpg.
That 6-speed with a 0.50 over drive really helps the fuel mileage on the interstates.
Driving around town and playing with it much though, and the mpg will be down in the mid teens easy.

My 94 6spd averages near 20mpg. The car is driven mostly in the city with little highway driving. The car has 104k miles and has been maintained exceptionally well by myself since taking ownership and all service to include a tune up is up to date.

Very good chance those saying that aren't really getting 27mpg over the course of a full tank.

Mine was a stock 95/M6/3.45:1 diff.
My records are not nearly as comprehensive, but the "bracket" is nearly identical, far as range goes. Best mileage was coming across Nebraska; 31 mpg miles driven/actual gallons; and too, 27-29 was more typical for me where roads were not so flat and small towns were encountered.
I'm now pushin' just over 500 chp from an LT5/M6 with the stock 3.45s and a mixture of cruise control and small towns on an 8-hour trip calculated to be 26.x mpg - about what I'd expected from my former LT1 on the same route.
I realize there is some slippage in an automatic, but 21-22 mph struck me as a little low. But, then again, driver/road conditions, tire pressure, etc all come into play.
I have a friend that is one of those that is constantly massaging the throttle as he drives along; and my wife does too, to some lesser extent. RRRRrrrrrrRRRRRRrrrrr... Makes me nuts, and it can't be doing mileage any favors either. Point being, even on the same road, the mileage (I'm sure) would differ significantly depending on who was driving.

My '94 6M did pretty well. I was doing a 100 mile per day commute that was nearly all highway. The 0.5 ratio for 6th gear really helps on the highway. I have heard that the automatics do a few mpg less.
On the highway (flat central Illinois) I would see about 30 or 31 mpg at cruise. With my mix of driving (mostly highway) I would get about 28.5 mpg in the summer and about 26 mpg in the winter. I didn't do a lot of city driving to know what my city mpg was.
I had plenty of time to watch gages etc. on my commute and I noticed a few things. A big difference was that the mpg suffered until the engine was warmed up (Oil temp). That would take about 15 to 20 minutes on the highway. There would be several mpg worse until it warmed up.
This warm vs cold engine made a noticeable difference when the type of driving changed too. When I was making a lot of short trips and frequently starting with a cold/cool engine the mileage was not as good as when I was taking longer trips like my daily commute of about 50 miles at a time.

My '93 is an auto and according to the dash which hasn't been reset in 3,000 miles it has averaged 20.3 so far, which in my case is very little city driving, all back road at 55-60. My car has the 3.07 rear. My best average I can remember has one tank at 27 or 28 I can't remember for certain but that was on the interstate with cruise set at 68. I think there may have been some down hill during that time but not certain. I also know that if you spend the day in Atlanta traffic, and get caught in rush hour your average will be down to 10..

Like anything; LT1 1/4 mile times, LT1 road course times, LT1 autocross results...it all boils down to how you drive the thing. You can see my fleet results HERE, click on the 'Vette to see tank by tank results.
You can see that my car with this driver is totally capable of averaging great numbers on a "whole tank". Telluride to Vegas...30+ mpg. Hand calculated. Tell me how I "fudged" that?

My stock LT1 got 30 MPG when I picked it up in North Georgia and drove it home to FL. It was full of non ethanol gas and I didn't believe the read out but that's what it got. (of course it's all "downhill" if you look on the map!) Now it's all city cruising and I'm lucky to get 15 MPG-but who cares, it's a CORVETTE.

I took my 92 6 speed convertible from Fort Worth to Kansas City to St Louis and back to Fort Worth. I ran 75 with the top down 75 with the top up and ac on 65 in the rain. In town normal and in the whole trip I averaged 29.4 mpg

I've gotten around 29mpg with my vette back in the day in stock from, when I took it for a long drive (from Michigan to KY). Now the car has some bolt on's with a 4.10 gear. I got a tune from PCM for less, and averaged almost 33mpg on a short 40 minute freeway trip.
It's almost concerning that it may be lean with such high MPG. Granted I reset the average count when I hit the freeway and the car was already warm.

My 1995 LT1 auto with the performance rear axle (gear ratio unknown) gets between 18 and 20.5 MPG most of the time with mixed driving city/rural. The car has 10,000 miles.

My best tank was 28.2. Highway driving without much traffic.
I'm typically 22-23 mpg per tank in mixed driving. I live in a rural area and go into the city once or twice a week.
I was actually surprised how good the gas mileage was for a nearly 20 year old sports car. I didn't buy it expecting it to be so economical to run. (Of course my comparison vehicle is a 2010 Raptor. We don't pass too many gas stations in that, 17 mpg on the highway and typically 13 on a mixed tank.)
I'm also running the 3.54 gears and a M6 in my '95.
