At church a friend came in his new C7 and it was raining very hard so I said his is brand new and mine is 24 years but I wouldn't take my old car out in the rain. He laughed and said he plows snow with his. LOL

C7 dash looks great
Simple uncluttered with amillion buttons and....similar shape as the late c4 but everyone still hates it

I love the C4. I think it represents the beginning of the "modern era" of Corvette and truly moved the Corvette forward. With that said, there is no comparison here. I suppose to each their own regarding its looks, but I think it's stunning in person.
I got a ride in a C7 Z51 a few weeks ago and if things work out, I'm hoping to drive one soon. I was speechless. It legitimately competes with some of the more expensive sports cars built today on all levels. I couldn't soak it all in during the 20 minute ride. The rev-matching is a very cool feature. The car is incredibly agile; it handles like few cars I've ever been in. It's by far the best Corvette to date.
In a sense, the C7 is the new C4. It's a huge leap forward for the brand. As a C4 owner, I respect it and admire it.

The C4 was the most technically advanced Corvette when it launched back in the day just as the C7 is now. When you compete against exotics that cost 2, 3, 4 times the price there is going to be short comings. How did the C4 do in showroom stock? Good enough that within a few years it was racing against itself. We can bash the styling of the C7 all we want but it's a lot of sports car the money. That's always been Corvette's place in the market. Yes the C7 has some polarizing styling. The taillights, the scoops, the bind spots can all be criticized. Look at the exotics. They all have blind spots, scoops, and polarizing styling cues. For the most part the scoops on all the current exotics serve a purpose including the C7. As much as I would love to have a C7 I really can't afford it but even if I could there is nothing I could fix on it. Lets face it the C4 is the first and last "modern" Corvette that the average car guy can work on. For that reason alone the C4 will remain a favorite for many of us. You always defend you one you love. The newest C4 is almost 20 years old and the oldest C4 is 30 years old. How far have our cell phones come in the last 20 years even the last 5 years for that matter? Cut the C7 some slack. It is a great performer and gets even better when you consider the price of admission.

The C7 is probably the best daily driven vette GM has made. It's meant for those that have limited experience in sports cars. I test drove one months ago and it takes very little driving ability. Just mash the gas and the car will straighten itself out with minimal effort. The car also handles on it's own and will give some of it's drivers more confidence.
With that being said, it makes a horrific weekend cruiser. It's too docile. With the electric steering, heated seats, cylinder deactivation and the ugly noise this thing makes under acceleration, it seems to have been domesticated by today's consumer. Corvette needs the old 1LE option, where all of the electronic BS is removed( along with the soft interior junk like USB ports and on-star) in an attempt to save weight. Use the money saved to increase the horsepower and get back a more authoritative exhaust note. Or buy an older Corvette and mod the hell out of it.
In conclusion:
Daily driver- yes
Weekend cruiser- not a chance

I don't know, people like what they like. I like my '96. I've owned it for going on 8 years and have put about 140K miles on it.
It needs some stuff now, and I look forward to doing the work.
But, I have to say that the C7 is just an incredible car to me. Honestly, if I had just a few more bucks in my pocket, I'd be all over it.

C7 is a flat out amazing car. I'd own one in a heart beat if I had the cash lying around.
Love it's styling, love that it FINALLY doesn't have an interior that belonged in a Cavalier.
Most of all I love the voodoo of that ediff, the gen 3 mag shocks and the 460 ponies

[QUOTE=zr1fred;1586550208]Check out the carpet in the C7. If the C2's had 80/20, C7's have 20/5. I've seen better nap on patios. Take a good look at a C7 and a C6 together and at different angles. You'll discover that most off the vents and rear lamps are basically just tricks to hide the similarities in the two bodies.[/QU
Anyway to save money. With that being said the Corvette is the best sports car in the world for the money. The thing I noticed right away is how much smaller the rear glass is and I wish it was bigger. That is my only critical thing to say about the C7. Is the C7 frame the same as the C6 Z06 and ZR1 ?

One of the cool things about cool car ownership is being in touch w/the mechanism. New cars isolate you from the mechanism, and opening the hood on modern cars is unfortunately, somewhat of a let down. Even with the plastic cover removed...some of the "excitement" is lacking I feel b/c most intakes from most maunfatures have become packaged the same; Ford, Chev, Chrysler, Euros, ...they're pretty much all using molded black plastic "Barrel ram" packaged, mid-length runner intakes these days.
They obviously work (why they've all gravitated to the same solution), but no excitement/brand or model identity there.

Things have changed for sure
Every LS type engine is ugly as sin but damn can they make some power. Takes an electrician to work on one now, or trade it in.

My wife and I own a C4, C5, & C6. I spend the most time with the C4 since I get to tinker with it. It has just over 36,000 miles and we both autocross it with NCCC regularly. The other two are street driven although I raced the 03 Z06 twice last season and the 427 vert once. As for the C7, still trying to warm up to the whole concept, my wife wants one...so we wait.

I get the impression, based off the OPs comments, this is more about style than performance. Obviously as a general rule each successive Corvette has better technology and performance than the predecessor. Bringing performance up as the defining difference defeats the point of the discussion due to redundancy.
I think the C4 has some of the best proportions of all of the Corvettes. Maybe you're not big on the simple lines (I happen to like the understated lines), but I think proportionally they nailed it with the C4 coupe. The C7,I agree with the OP, it looks a bit... off. I think design details on the car are really cool (even if it barely looks anything like what we associate with "Corvette") but proportionally it seems awkward. I'm sure getting behind the wheel is a blast, though.

For me it's all about style. I don't do "performance" driving. I'd like to see a convertable in person. I don't car for the "big butt" look but I know that plays a big part in the performace aspect keeping it all glued to the ground. I did not that the center console area part of the dash is quite similar to the C4.
