Default drive shaft clamps install

just installed my driveshaft on my 87 with new u-joints. There are
two clamps that hold the u-joint to the rear yoke. On one side of
the clamps is a very small tab. do the clamps with the tab face outward or inward. I have looked in all my manuals and searched
the web,nothing.

I believe the tabs go away from the center of the half shaft, they should only fit one way. The tab centers the universal joint, it also prevents the universal joint cap from spinning out detaching itself from the universal joint.

Ok, that's what I thought and that's how I installed them. Thank you
