Finished installing Viper alarm system to replace dead aftermarket system. The dash is back together and in the right position, siren run into engine compartment, and antenna placed properly. I didn't install the starter disable because I didn't want to mess with the VATS. I learned a lot about what's under the dash on the driver's side and more about how to get through the firewall than I ever wanted to know. Next up is the seats.

Easier to remove the radiator to access that waterpump. As for the serpentine belt, there is a procedure as I recall which is relatively easy. Been awhile, just know it took me about 15 min.

Installed the rebuilt 700R4
Bot a 1984 Corvette, with an unknown tranny problem 2 months ago.
Repaired the tranny, which had a detached anchor on the 2-4 band, causing the slipping , causing the no second condition. On blocks, the tranny seemed to shift ok.
3-4 clutches had a little burning on them.
Replaced:
Most bushings
Most seals
Reverse input drum (cupped surface)
Sun shell (old one looked ok, but installed the beast anyway)
3-4 clutches and steels with the Red Eagle Altos.
Didn't mess with the torque converter, pump or throttle body, everything looked really clean inside.
All the other frictions appeared new, so I left them as is.
I did all the work myself with help from youtube videos.
Goes nice down the road, need to solve a few more things before I license/insure it. Seat belt is stuck, can't pull it out, saw the write up here.
Car looks and sounds pretty good in the dark.
I need to buy a bra to cover some peeling paint on the nose.
Got about $2200 in the car now, and I learned quite a bit.
Good experience so far...
Regards,
Ken
PS It would be cool to sell this and pick up a LT1 car with a bad 4L60E to rebuild.

Burning Brakes
Bought a dust cover from Amazon since I'm starting in on a lot of woodworking nowadays. I get tired of dusting my car all the time. Driving less these days, but still a lot of good Vette weather in the Northwest.

Weekend projects,
Over the weekend I had my new 275/40/17 Nitto 555R's installed on all 4 corners, installed new door sill carpet I purchased from a forum member, and installed a new Optima red top battery...95 vert. Finished up with a detail and short drive. The carpet looks great and matches new molded floor mats nicely. And the Nitto 555R's ride amazingly. I was shocked how much of a difference they made in ride quality. They handle great and ride smooth. Best quality for the money IMHO. I've never had Nittos before and don't know the difference between 555's and the 555R's but I'm very happy with the r's.
