Checked the front wheel bearings for play, bled the front calipers and cleaned and regreased (disk brake grease) any sliding parts.

Oil/filter change and lube (zerks in the A-arm pivots housing the Poly bushings).

Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning....... I also moved from polished ZR1's to chrome. Love the look of polished, but chrome is much easier to take care of. Also removed the plastic wire loom and replaced with split braided nylon looms.

Getting the Vette ready for a magazine photo shoot (more on that later).

SOME MARVIL MISTRY OIL AND A FEW HOLESHOTS WORKES WELL.

got out my best bath soaps and sponges and gave her a real slow and gentle bath and dried her with a nice warm towel while she basked in the sunshine. After that, I cozied up and slide inside her and went for a long comfortable ride until I had her screaming round the bends - - - ahhhhhhh I could probably use a cigarette right about now, if only I smoked . . . . .

Spent the day washing the car and trying to get it ready for the car show at the end of the month.

Removed the mud flaps the previous owner put on it and started cleaning out seems and stuff with a tooth brush. Talk about a tiring experience.

Default parking lights!

A big day yesterday -- went to signal a left turn and no flashing on the dash! Oh no! Pulled into a restaurant parking lot (on the right, so I could signal, eh?) and checked. Indeed, left front parking light not working.

Checked the manual. Tells me I need a 2057 NA for that application.

Go to auto parts store. No 2057 NA on hand -- "NA," I have learned during this operation, stands for "natural amber" -- but they do have many examples of the 2057 ALL bulb.

I can only guess, but I assume the "ALL" stands for "amber long life," since the package described these as long-life bulbs and they did have that distinctive orange colour known as amber in the automotive world.

But can I use just regular amber? Is natural amber better? Would it not be a more organic, free-range, environmentally responsible amber?

Guy checks computer. Says it's equivalent. I'm not so sure, but invest 4.99 (Canadian) in a two pack. Don't they always say you should replace these things in pairs?

Easy enough to remove old bulbs and get new bulbs into the socket. Getting the socket back in place is another story...my body doesn't bend in the direction required to see how the tabs line up, and even if it did, my head wouldn't fit down in there far enough to see.

So, took about 10 minutes of trial and error per light to get the stupid sockets back in place.

A big job, to be sure -- took me two beers to calm myself and get my heart rate back to something near normal -- but, oh, the joy of seeing two parking lights glowing amber (not natural amber, mind you, but to the untrained eye, they look amber enough) on the front end, and to hear the steady click-click-click of the turn signal in either direction.

Nothing like the satisfaction of overcoming the obstacles to achieve a do-it-yourself job well done!

Spent the whole day with a friend replacing the convertible top and windshield weather stripping, along with replacing the worn headlight gears with the nice bronze ones on my '93 vert. Put on new wipers too. Drove around a bit down some nice country roads. Left at 9am, got home at midnight. Was a nice day!

I completed the installation of heat/sound deadening material two weeks ago and put on a new set of C6 Grand Sport rims and tires this past weekend.
