Default Project - Disturbing Peace

We're chopping off the Dynomax Super Turbo's and installing Allens Chambered Muffler Eliminators today. I got a small business obligation to get done first. I'll keep you posted with pics and stuff later this eve.

You should do Alan's complete chambered exhaust. My cousin has a 69' Camaro that has the factory chambered exhaust and it is the best sounding exhaust I've ever heard. Deep idle rumble. Throaty purr around town and gentle purr on the highway. But when you push the peddle to the metal it roars like it has straight pipes. Best of both worlds.

I don't think it's a good idea to put loud exhaust on an older Corvette, everywhere you try to go afterwards you'll attract a bunch Mustangs who will think you're looking for a race. Better to have a late model 505hp Z06 which is nice and quiet and Mustangs will not be bothering you.

Looks like you are taking 2 1/2" pipes and reducing them to under 2" with added restriction. They might sound good because they are so short, but I'd leave them out for the track.

If Mustangs think I'm fodder it's a complement. It doesn't mean I have to race them. I own a slightly modified 92 LX 5.0 myself and it would probably beat this stock LT1 in a drag race.

I'm much better at resisting an impromptu street race than I used to be.
Just yesterday a Coyote 5.0 pulled up behind me at a light. I was first in line so I pulled out and got in the right lane just taking it easy. The driver of the Mustang stormed by me as soon as I moved over. Dumb ditz had a small child in the back seat of the convertible not even in a child seat. Wow! How cool are you to place your child in danger like that. The last thing I want to do is encourage someone like that.

When I'm driving, it's me and my car - nobody else really matters. When the road is mine without company, you better believe I engage in spirited driving.

The reduction at the far rear of the system is negligible on my stock LT1. The exhaust has had a chance to cool down by the time it gets back there anyway so it condenses and doesn't need as much diameter. Bigger tubing is more important up front where the exhaust gasses are hot and expanding. If anything is a restriction it's the cats, not the chambered tail pipes.

BTW, something tells me you know all this anyway.

I'll take any Mustang in the corners, especially if I'm on the auto-x tires. BRING IT!!!
I've had a few try, and = # fail to keep up. I'll leave the HP wars to you other guys.

My 93 tends to be noisy. Stock manifolds, functional stock cats, x pipe in place of resonator, muffler eliminators out back. Deep and throaty at WOT but not too loud. Mellow at idle and cruising speeds.

Install is done. Best $200 I've ever spent on exhaust parts. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1984-TO-1996-CORVETTE-MUFFLER-ELIMINATORS-/151150756621?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item233149830d&vxp=mtr
I had to make some adjustments to the install since my car already had Dynomax Super Turbos (now for sale). The installer of the previous mufflers had cut and welded the pipes in the same place I needed to for the current install. I wound up using adapters inside the pipes. Even the adapters were too loose at one end so I made a shim out of cutting up other adapters and using them to close the gap. Everything is super tight and perfectly aligned now.

It sounds great now, especially when you get on it. I don't notice any annoying droan either. Moderately mellow at idle and cruise but really mean when you floor it.

Here's some pics.

Wow! That looks great! What kind of hanger is on the rear? I can't see what was used to support the last bit of exhaust. The alignment looks top notch.

The rear hangers came with the kit. You can see them in the pic above where I have the parts laid out on the canvas. I had to buy 3" standard clamps to use for the rear hanger. The kit comes with 4 band clamps. I had to use both pairs of band clamps for the pipe connection since I had to use an adapter. That's why I have those standard clamps to secure the tip end to the hanger.
