A/C repair
Replaced the suction side needle stem valve last year and recharged the system. Saw some freon coming out of the high side, but a/c worked last summer. Then came this summer and no A/C. I bought the high side service valve and borrowed that $100.00 eight sided socket, I think that I could have removed the valve with a small pipe wrench and a rage. It's not very tight, but I'll know next time. Put on the gauges and the pump and only got the vacuum down to around 26 after 1/2 hour. It started to drop within 2 minutes ( LEAK ). So I decided to change out the O rings, It wasn't that hard of a job. Thats when I noticed that the suction line from the evaporated to the accumulator could be leaking at the pressure fitting. After all this is said and done before I install the new hose and install the vacuum pump, should I replace the accumulator/dryer. Never had any other problems with the a/c before the leaks

I think u should be more concerned on getting the system sucked down and staying in -20 to -30 Vacuum for a min of 30mins with all connections tight and longer if u can wait, including all ur gauge lines and the Head of ur test Equipment and ur pump turned off.
That way u know ur not leaking anywhere and it will hold a charge for at least the season.
As for the Dryer, If ya got the Dough, do it and if u can swap it out without adding any other problems because or recharge will turn out alot better. Discharge temps with be much better. The dryers got I think nothing but black charcoal that becomes ineffective over time when its exposed to the air we breath. Its always nicer with a new Dryer.
Dont forget to add a little recharge oil in the system and dont overcharge. Any system thats a little low will be nice and cold but an overcharged system wont and dont forget to blast out the rad and condenser with high pressure air or at the local do it to it with high pressure water and be careful with the high pressure water. If u drive it there wait 30mins to cool it down and dont directly spray ur motor or dist or alt. Best way there is to spray water into rad under the hood and push it out the front. If done right its the easyest way to go for 2 bucks in Quarters in 5 mins time

Thanks for the info. I did test the gauges by putting them on a vacuum and disconnected from the car, they held the vacuum. As for the dryer I'll add one to the order,I just found out the hose won't ship until the 15th.
