If YOU paid $8,400 for the car then that's what YOU think it's worth. It's the simple law of supply and demand and the supply of C4's is high right now and the demand is low. A local car flipper recently bought 3 C4's for $6,000 - sold the '93 for $3,500, the '92 for $3,000 and offered me the '87 for 2K. What the '87 is is a $1,000 car that if I put $10,000 into it I'd have a decent $5,000 car. That's why they call it the old car hobby because it makes no economic sense.
C4's are at an in-between age now where they're not quite daily-driver reliable nor are they particularly desirable as collectibles. I can only hope that someday they'll experience the renaissance that E-type has had. But I ain't holding my breath.
Don't get me wrong - I love my '95. I'm also fairly certain that true Corvette guys significantly overvalue their cars. Love is blind. And then there's the wife-says-I-gotta- sell-it factor. "Honey, I'm trying to sell it but no one's buying right now (when I've got it priced at 50% more than it's worth)."
Agree with all the posters who discount the NADA and KBB valuations. Look at Autotrader and Craigslist to get a better feel for the market.

those #s above are interesting, the funny thing is the 2 90s vettes i test drove 2 months ago, if the above stats are correct, then the reason the 2 vettes are sitting on the lots still are that they are about 3-4K over price....which i wouldn't doubt....interesting. thanks for posting those.
that '92 for 3600$, boy i'd like to have seen that one!

Yeah, but it will be a POS C5, not a nice one.
C4 prices are kind of like real estate when they say, "location, location, location". With C4's it is "condition, condition, condition"! If you have a realty nice clean one, well maintained with documented records you will get a higher price $8 to $10K). If it is just average or beat up then the price will reflect it, thus C4 selling for $3600. Most guys aren't going to want a problem child $3,600 Vette as it will end up costing you more money than a nice on in the long run.
Your other problem is that you are in NY state. Whats the weather like there now, about a hundred and fifty below zero with 20 feet of snow?!? Okay, just kidding but I'm sure it isn't prime Corvette driving weather. It's also the holiday season so people aren't thinking about cars so much as buying gifts and such.
I hope you paid cash for the car and didn't finance it. If so, maybe you just put it in storage and cancel the insurance on it until spring or you get additional revenue coming in. Check out specialty insurance companies such as Grundy or the Corvette Museun insurance for cheaper rates.
Good luck.
Just noticed the OP's psot was back in beginning of August. Hope he figured something by now.

last weekend i decided to check a few of the vettes that i've been lusting after and see what the kelley blue book value was on them.
i realize it's just "one person/co's" opinion of what a number value is or should be. but i was sort of amazed at the values that they listed.
a 93 of your mileage according to KBB is:
$7186 for excellent condition
$6781 for good condition
good luck
